New speeds?

Had an email informing me that on 1st August my download speed is changing from 38Mb to 52Mb and the upload is changing from 19Mb to 9.5Mb. I have been checking my speeda nd there is certainly a drop in the upload but my download speeds have not increased beyond 20megs to 31megs approx?
so, firstly, when will I see an appreciable speed increase? and secondly why has the upload been halved?
I can see a lot of disgruntled people posting about their problems with this! I know I'm getting fed up with Plusnet and will definitely consider leaving if these problems aren't sorted out! after all we ARE paying for a service that's NOT being delivered....

Your speeds - from the speed test you posted - won't change
It is the maximum speeds for your product which are being changed
That is from up to 40 to up to 55 for downstream and from up to 20 to up to 10 for the upstream
Looking at your results I am surprised that you are getting as good an upstream as you show given your downstream number - were those results wired or wireless

Thanks for your reply Oldjim.. It wasn't made clear that this was the case.. the email inferred that the speeds were being increased for useage, not as you have just let me know the max speed attainable for the product. BUT I still would like to know why the upload has been halved? (Unwired test)

Having read a lot of posts on this subject .. Plusnet should have offered a discount if they are cutting their upload speeds.. not a good move Plusnet or should that be 'Lessnet' ...

How about running a wired test
Also the result from this would help a lot https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
In answer to your other question - Cost - You are being moved from an 80/20 (Plusnet restricted to 40/20) to 55/10

Cost? I have lost half my upload speed and I am going to be charged more for my service? that does not sound like a good deal to me. In reply to the link you supplied:
Estimated line speed:There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.Current line speed:40 Mb
I never get 40Mb it's erratic all the time.

Can someone please post a copy of the email we received about the speed changes? I can't seem to locate it for some reason. Many thanks

From that wired test - you haven't lost anything
Although why the tested speed is so slow I don't know
What does this give for the IP Profile http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/PerformanceTesterWS/diagnostics.do

Although the screen shot doesn't give the IP profile it would tend to indicate that your line should be running at almost full speed
See this from mine
This indicates that there is a major problem but I have no idea where although there could be a very high error rate
As a first step please raise a fault here https://faults.plus.net
I would guess that you should be seeing wired speeds of about 38Mb/s down and 19Mb/s up and when you move to 55/10 you would get about 53Mb/s down and 9.5Mb/s up

I do sometimes get a higher speed but roughly around 31 meg.. then it will drop like a stone. I mostly use an unwired laptop. But still I have been advised by staff here that even using unwired should give me better then I am getting. It's very hit and miss. I was also told last time I registered a fault (on the phone) that my speeds were acceptable and no Engineer visit was needed. And now that my upload has been halved it's not looking too good is it?

Unless you get the problem sorted you upload speeds won't be affected as you are not getting even 10Mb/s
Why did you raise a phone fault
In any case you need to raise a broadband fault using the link I gave

The reason I raised this is because of the ongoing erratic speeds. My upload speeds were better than they are since the 1st august. I raised my previous fault a few months ago and spoke to a member of staff regarding my problems. Since I first signed to Plusnet in Feb 2015 I had speeds of up to 38meg on my unwired laptop but only for a short while and then they dropped etc., etc., .. I can see from others' posts here that I am not alone in this predicament. I explained to Plusnet when I signed up for the 40/20 deal that I would be using an unwired set up. I was told this was fine and from the results I achieved from the start I assume this should still be the case.
