Re: Packet loss

The red parts on the graph indicate packet loss. You can see it at the very top. I've had this for the past few weeks and am well aware its packet loss by now. Even 1% causes impact to my servers and gaming

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I am connected to Colindale Point of Presence but all upstream traffic was being routed via Southbank for the past week, and my upstream speed was uncapped.  ie. speedtests reporting 15mbps instead of 9.5mbps as a legacy 55/10 customer.  (line speed 57/16 mbps)

This morning, it looks like upstream traffic has returned to being routed via Colindale, and upstream is now capped at 9.5 mbps.

Apart from increase in latency spikes since the maintenance, no issue so far with streaming services.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@bill888 good spot, we've literally just finished the changes for that. This morning we've done some work which we hope will make this better. The work finished at 5:30am so if you can let us know how it goes from now on that would be much appreciated and any more live TBB graphs would be very handy.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

My current live graph which is pinging through the Plusnet router to my sons PS4 which I've added to the DMZ. I keep telling him to leave his PS4 in standby mode so I get a continuous trace but he forgets at night and shuts it down, hence the big red bars. Noticed a bit of packet loss last night as can be seen on the graph. Always happens from around 5pm and goes on until near midnight.

Currently on a dynamic IP address. On the Plusnet user tools website it shows my gateway as - You are currently connected to gateway psb-ir01.

This is located in Southbank Point of Presence.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

HI watercooled, when you changed to a static IP, your routing changed slightly and your circuit was limited by a speed profile on our systems, which was set incorrectly.  Im sorry about that but happy to advise I've now updated this and once you re-boot your router, your speed should go back up to previous level.

@KevMac1

Hi I cancelled the static and the speed resumed. Can you change me back to the static then please at full speed so I don't get charged again?

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I Had a burst of packet loss this morning just after 8am. snapshot graph below:

My Broadband Ping - plusnet

My download speed seems to have dropped in speedtests too, prior to being put on a static IP I got ~74Mbps but since the static IP I get 68/69Mbps. My sync speed is unchanged at 79999 and my plusnet profile is ok (77 - I think).

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@dave Here is a snapshot of past 24 hours where I have now started getting high latency spikes and still some packet loss but not constant like earlier in the week.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@TheHorseman the overnight packet loss looks to be a side effect of the changes we were making last night. Anything after 5:30am is the most important thing to look at. Yesterday some of the TBB graphs were showing packet loss mid afternoon so keen to see what happens today.

Edit, misread your post as just before 6am so we'll have a check.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Not seeing any difference since being put on Static IP still all ok.
