Re: Any capacity issues?

Fault opened by AAISP covering my connection so work in progress here, and saved Plusnet a few quid on a second SFI visit by closing ticket. You're welcome Smiley

Re: Any capacity issues?

Ok been doing lots of hopping I can now get full speed on ipv6 account.

Melancholie am I right that if I hop I can move between different SVLAN's?  So this can be either a SVLAN issue if right or still a possible plusnet issue.

Re: Any capacity issues?

I think it's more to do with the time rather than ipv6 becoming stable (although i wish my upload would return to 18mbit) --->

Bear in mind that it's almost 11:00pm, and peak time usage will have begun tailing off.

Re: Any capacity issues?

nbk no I run repeated tests to make sure its consistent.
On the bad SVLAN/gateway its congested well into dusk hours as well.
Plusnet really need to open their mouths here and provide some proper information, it cannot be that hard to get hold off.

No. The mapping is static and not session-dependent.

ok thanks for info, I will test over next few nights but it would seem based on my testing so far the SVLAN might not be the issue for me.
Fingers crossed for you that aaisp have got what is your issue and it gets resolved soon.

Re: Any capacity issues?

After an hour long outage for me tonight it looks like there was SVLAN work undertaken at my exchange (although plusnet status checker/announcements didnt indicate any work being done in my area...got the info elsewhere :|) so if my slowdown was due to SVLAN capacity I guess i'll know in about 14 hours 😛

Re: Any capacity issues?

We've been looking in to this and the latest SVLAN reports show a marked increase in the number running at RED or AMBER. Once they are identified the majority are resolved within a few days, some can take longer if there is physical work to introduce new equipment involved however.

Re: Any capacity issues?

I noticed problems for the first time this morning.  They ceased when I changed gateways from pcl-ago8 to pgw-ag03.

Re: Any capacity issues?

I am seeing some of the weirdest congestion I have had to diagnose.
Done about 7 speedtests one after the other.
IPv6
First was almost good but on the x1 test had a dip.
Second was ok on down speeds but upload was struggling to go above 6mbit/sec
Third and Fourth same which I aborted as very long wait for upload to finished.
Then I forced browser to IPv4
Upload fixed but for 2 tests one after the other x1 was around 30mbit/sec wavy
Then next test was fine.
What I want to know given when on pro I only had light congestion for small parts of the evening yet back on a non pro account its much worse, do any plusnet endpoints have saturation for any part of the day? if not are any of these red/amber SVLAN's confirmed for my connection?

Re: Any capacity issues?

If PN's end points were becoming saturated, I would expect a lot of people on here complaining about affected services and also for it to be shown up in the TBB graphs.

Re: Any capacity issues?

I would also expect Plusnet to have reconfigured their traffic management systems to try and mitigate the impact of it as much as possible.
I am sure their network is a bit heavy, they've been busy balancing load which you don't do for fun, however the impact of this would be pretty widespread.
