I would suggest they would prefer you to use their Hub, but there is no reason not to. If you have a line issue then connect the supplied Hub up

All four banks we have, use 2FA (via mobile text, voice message on landline, or debit card reader) to verify every online login.
Even IF a 'WiFi hacker' knew a particular password, how could they get past your 2FA ? - as your connection should be encrypted with TLS/HTTPS, and your bank's website will have a secure certificate, so there's no easy way to 'clone' your time limited one use 2FA code.

its nothing to do with the banks website, somehow my card details have been used to make online purchases without my permission I've had refunds from both banks but it takes ages to get new cards delivered etc thats what I'm trying to get round I just trying to be as certain as I can be that my wifi is as secure here as it can be

PN have always been happy for customers to use their own equipment. They provide a list of settings required in the Help pages.
Only downside is if you have a conenction problem then they can't run tests as you don't have a Hub connected.

In that case it is more likely that you've inadvertently used your debit card (and typed it's PIN code), in a card skimmer perhaps at a shop, a petrol station, or cash machine. Your card number and PIN are then available to use to buy goods from anywhere that doesn't verify the card against your registered address.

Load balancers. Which can 'break' end-to-end HTTPS connections.They are the 'holders'of the certificate(s). The certificates are loaded on the load balancers. (i.e. they become an official/authorised man-in-the-middle). The load balancer is the recipient of the encrypted traffic and then may pass on traffic to multiple servers as unecrypted traffic, and re-encrypt stuff coming back to it before sending it off to the end customer.
A hacker inside a banking system (via other means) may well have access to unecrypted stuff.

You can see a list of devices that are, or have been, connected wirelessly to your hub by logging in to the hub and selecting the 'My Network tab. If the device icon is pink the device is connected, grey and it's been but is not currently connected.
If you wish to clean up the list then go to the Advanced settings/My Network tab and enter the hub password. Here you can remove disconnected devices from the list.
