Transfer out .co.uk domain

I want to transfer out one of .co.uk domains to eukhost. They said they need the "EPP KEY/ Authorisation Code”.

I believe this needs a ticket created via a request in the forum, if someone could raise that I would appreciate it.

Account is cjajal.

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

@cja

they said they need the "EPP KEY/ Authorisation Code”.

They're wrong, they don't! All that's needed to transfer a .co.uk domain is for the IPS TAG to be changed to the new registrar.

You're in the right place though, one of the staff will raise a ticket to ask for the new IPS TAG, they'll then raise the request to NetOPS. In the mean time I suggest you find out from the new registrar what their IPS TAG is.

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

Fix

For accountability, I need a ticket on your account or a call, then we'll action for you.

I've noticed some hosts a bit fussier, but generally we change the TAG, they take the domain and change the DNS.

@cja You can't raise a ticket, but maybe @plusnettony  can.

You cant, only staff can raise a ticket these days.

Did @plusnettony not raise a ticket ? have you checked your account ?

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

Sorted called support and they have done ... or started ... seemed to be on the ball, fingers cross that works.

@plusnettony asked me to raise ticket as need confirmation of id through account and I had a bit of delay checking some finer details with the new hosting company.

So that is one on the way (the more important one) and another domain to follow once that one is all happily sorted.

Thanks @plusnettony and @MisterW for the advice.

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

Can I please use this thread to assist me. I am divesting one of my .co.uk domains and passing it over to a friend.

He advises "there seems to be two types of transfer required. firstly the ownership (to him) and secondly the domain registrar from Plusnet to his registrar Ipage. The transfer method his provider has requires him to have a transfer code (from the current registrar and ownership of the domain lodged with that registrar). Are you able to transfer the domain ownership details to mine ahead of asking for the transfer from Plusnet?"

This seems to me to be more complex than the more simple process of just changing the IPS tag described earlier on in this thread. Is my friend wrong or am I missing something please?

cheers

John

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

@Pancho4 your friend and his registrar are wrong, no EPP code is required to transfer a .uk domain.

However, in your case it seems you need to go through two processes

1) A Registrant change - i.e the change in ownership of the domain

2) A Registrar change - i.e the change in where the domain is registered

2) just requires the IPSTAG to be changed to the new registrar

1) is more complicated , see here https://theukdomain.uk/domain-support/how-do-i-transfer-my-domain/

I don't believe Plusnet can perform 1) since they are not an 'accredited' registrar according to the list. So this transfer will probably have to go through Nominet.

As to which order the transfers should be done, I've no direct experience of 1) but my guess would be, if possible, to do 2) first such that the domain is with the new registrar.

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

Thanks very much for your advice and for expanding on the two steps. However when I go to the Nominet site, following your link, I see that Force9 is down as an accredited registrar. Nevertheless, when I search on Nominet using the "domain look up tool" - my domain is not found. Presumably my domain is not viewed as a top level domain (whatever that means).

The domain in question is attached to Force9 however!

Can anyone from Plusnet please confirm that I must go through Nominet to change the accredited registrar first, before doing the apparently easy bit of changing the IPSTAG.

Many thanks and sorry to be a nuisance!

cheers

Force9 IS in the list of registrars but its not shown as 'accredited. . Apparently, there are two classes of registrars , basic ones who can register, transfer and renew domains, and 'accredited' ones who can performs other more complicated tasks like registrant changes.

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

By the nature of what ISPs do, Plusnet's domain management is not premium!!

The distillation of the advice is to find a registrar who can change the registrant details, get Plusnet to change the ISPTAGS to them thereby transferring the domain name to the new registrar.  Then work with them to transfer the registrant (ownership).

Re: Transfer out .co.uk domain

Thank you gentlemen for your helpful advice.

I have now, via Nominet, changed the name of the registrant on the domain from mine, to the new owner.

As far as i can see I now need a ticket raised on Plusnet to change the IPSTAG to the new registrar. I will message @plusnettony separately with the details necessary to raise a ticket. Thanks again
