After more than 2 decades with Plusnet, I would like to transfer my domain out to 123Reg where my other domains are registered, then I can change the nameservers to my hosting company.
I'd set the A records ages ago to point to my hosting company due to Plusnet deciding they didn't want to play any more, but the problems with email are just ridiculous now. Looks like I've missed out on a job because my emails didn't get through.
So, the 123Reg help says I need to initiate this with Plusnet to get an authorisation code (EPP or transfer key). Is this correct, as I've seen other posts on here saying Plusnet need to set the new registrar's code or something?

What needs to happen depends on the domain name.
For .uk you supply to Plusnet the new ISPTAG.
For .com you request an EPP code from Plusnet.
Both processes will require account verification so it’s probably best to call Plusnet as the core staff who operate in the forum do not have the means of raising a ticket. @plusnettony who sometimes picks up on these matters is not around at the moment.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

I phoned the number on my domain admin page saying "If you want transfer out, phone ..." four times and listened to the same recorded message saying I could open a support ticket online. Each time, the predicted wait time was so long I decided to try yet again to find somewhere I could open a ticket.
Fifth time round, I waited 30 minutes to speak to someone who clearly didn't have a clue what I was talking about and said I probably needed to talk to the technical team. Yeah, no [-Censored-] Sherlock.
Eventually got to speak to someone who, I think has passed the request on to the "back office" team. I gave them the IPSTAG and was told I'd get an email with the EPP code. My email address is on the domain I'm transferring, so fingers crossed....
