I'm helping a friend with their account, and I'm an authorized user on the account.
Their services have partially been migrated to Greenby; email is working ok after having to open a Support ticket with Greenby, but domain and web hosting are still with Plusnet. The migration started more than 6 months ago, and having them in limbo is preventing me from making progress on our goal of setting up a new website at the existing domain. Moreover, I don't believe the hosting service my friend will get once fully migrated is sufficient for the needs of their new website. Not to mention the fact that we're losing confidence in Greenby altogether, given the unstable email service and atrocious customer service.
So, we're considering simply migrating all the services to another provider. However, before we start that process, I was wondering, is it possible to initiate a domain transfer to a new provider (who will also be the new web and email host) while the services are mid-migration? If so, I know we'll need the IPS TAG updated, but how do we request this?
On the other hand, if we need to wait until the migration is complete in order to transfer the domain, is it possible to update the name servers and MX records to point to the new web/email host? If so, can I use the self-service DNS management tools in the Plusnet dashboard, or does a Support team member need to do this for us?
