You are allowed to fit a filtered faceplate yourself. Like anything else, they plug into the test socket, which is the dividing point between what's your responsibility and what's Openreach's. It's replacing the master socket itself which you're not supposed to do yourself.

Correct! That's not what I was saying however, I did replace the master socket. Thankfully I did have the good sense to refit the old one before the BT guy spotted it. Not even sure he would have noticed to be honest, it was a BT face plate that I bought online. Of course if anything had been said I would have denied all knowledge, it might have been a lodger who changed it. Actually come to think of it, yes it was my lodger, gosh my memory is terrible lately! Angel

Honestly speaking though I wasn't aware that I couldn't replace it until after the event, it was only after googling which wires to reconnect that I discovered my apparent error. Honest! Roll_eyes

Thanks for all your support so far, it is very much appreciated.

It's my pleasure, I like to try and help where I can. Smiley

It did me a favour as it turned out, I've been putting up with this problem for ages and had given up finding a solution for myself. Maybe it's good karma or something? Smiley

Re: Powerline Adapter strange issue

Must be! I have turned on power saving back on both adapters, still works fine, I then disabled ping task in windows, still worked fine, i then turned on power management on the network card and then it kept failing. I disabled it and then all worked fine. Really is a strange one. But all is resolved for now.

Re: Powerline Adapter strange issue

So it sounds like disabling power management on the network card might be your fix. Do I take it that you're no longer using the PING command or the TP sleep fix tool?

I'm still testing the PING at present, as yet I haven't had a dropped connection which is good, generally it drops out several times some evenings. Currently I'm not using any of the other fixes until I know for sure if the PING really works.

Lets hope yours is now fixed, I like a success story. Thumbs_Up

Re: Powerline Adapter strange issue

@rollo or anyone else,

Having followed the advice in the earlier video (first page I believe) I've created a '.vbs' script to run the '.bat' command hidden at user logon. I've created a new 'basic task' in Task Scheduler to run the vbs script but the trouble is it's not working. At user logon I'm being prompted to find a program to open this file but no mention of which file it's trying to launch, i.e. the vbs script or the bat file?

Googling seems to reveal lots of complaints about this with no real solutions, any of you nice people got any ideas?

@rollo I believe you said you did have this working, can you share your method please?

EDIT

Just found a simpler way to do it, though whether it's good practice I don't know? I've added a shortcut to the '.vbs' script in my user startup folder. Seems to be working okay though and CMD window remains hidden. Task Manager shows TCP/IP PING Command as active Thumbs_Up

Re: Powerline Adapter strange issue

UPDATE

With the above PING now being launched at startup my connection has remained stable for the last few days without any disconnections. Early days yet I know but it's looking hopeful as a workaround.

@MKSlinky

Great news, no issues here so far apart from one occasion but that was resolved on its own. So far so good. A consistent speed at 55-60mbp/s.
