I wish to place about 100 pictures on the web. Would there be any benefit in setting up a web site to do this ? If so what would be the benefit of a web site compared with posting the pictures on the web using Picsa (sorry if the spelling is wrong) and how difficult would it be to set up a web site assuming you have no knowledge of where to start and what would the least cost you could do it for?

Not a problem (depending upon the average Size of these images though)

Hmm, your own branding and page style?

Free

Sorry, I've not a great deal of time to extend the help now but.
Open Source Image Galleries are freely available and can be set up with the CCGI Service (and MySQL Database Service), easily.
You will have to be prepared from here to learn new skills which you may not have done before.
You might have to create regular backups if you plan to use it long term without any hard backups on your Local Machine
(See this topic as to what I mean).
Many customers here have done the same, and reguard the PHP Package called "CopperMine" to be reliable and easy to use.
Use Google to find some other options (Like: Google - PHP image gallery
Hope this gives a bit of a starting point!

you have several free solutions.
1) use http://www.irfanview.com/which is a good local to you machine picture organiser and a part of the package will produce HTML pages with thumbnail indexes.
this can then be uploaded to your free PN web space
2) use http://www.flickr.com/
3)use picaso
4)another is http://photobucket.com/
