No FTTP and there never will be

As my neighbours will not allow cityfibre to go pass and never will. How will my line still work?

No doubt BT/OpenReach will enable FTTP at some point. City Fibre  are a totally different company.

@zaaxuk

Well for the time being , your copper line can still be used to supply broadband.

As @jab1 says, hopefully Openreach will install FTTP sooner or later. Presumably Openreach already have wayleaves in place to provide the copper connections and wont need the neighbours permission to upgrade them to FTTP

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

How did your current connection get there? How can your neighbour prevent them? As @MisterW  says, way-leaves must already be in place.

@zaaxuk

If you still have a phone line then in the reasonable near future you will lose it and your internet service will transfer to a SOGEA line - this is basicaly FTTC with no phone service attached.

Your neighbours may decide to move one day - you never know.

Does the installation need access to private land/property? As far as the public highway is concerned, I understand that full fibre installation is a permitted development, so requires no planning permission.

Is City Fibre the only player in town?

They ought to be able to use BT ducts by agreement; given that they already have wayleaves, that ought to negate your neighbour's obstruction.  That said, wayleaves do not last forever.

Re: No FTTP and there never will be

There are no ducts between my house and the nearest box. Just a bundle of wires in the ground ( I saw them 4 years ago when an electrical contractor cut though them).

Re: No FTTP and there never will be

So does the Modem power the copper wires between my house and the box?

Re: No FTTP and there never will be

@zaaxuk Who 'owns' the close?

FTTP is passive - i.e. it doesn't need power.

You appear to have a Direct in Ground installation - if anyone in the close wants FTTP, whoever installs it will need to lay ducting - FTTP cables cannot be laid direct in ground.

Re: No FTTP and there never will be

The copper between my house and the local box will need it

Re: No FTTP and there never will be

FTTP does not use copper, it is entirely fibre cable.
