New home

Were soon to move house and will likely use Plusnet, can I order my broadband before the completion date so I can just plug the router in when we move in ?

Re: New home

@LincsAndy   Welcome to the Plusnet Community Fora.

This question is best addressed to Plusnet directly, by giving them a ring. However things to consider:

Presumably you are aware that Plusnet no longer offer a phone service?

Do you know whether your new property already has Full Fibre or is in a Fibre Priority area? You can check by entering the address in here: https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome. If you need any help with the results then obscure the address and post the results here. Of particular interest is the first few paragraphs below the table.

If the property currently only has a traditional copper connection and you are in a fibre priority area then that will not be re-enabled and there could be a delay before you are connected until the new service is installed by Openreach.

Re: New home

@LincsAndy

As I understand it you can only order once you are the legal owner of the house ie the completion date. You would need to phone PN to confirm one way or the other.

Do you have a current ISP? What is available at the new house FTTC or FTTP and, if the latter, has it already been installed?

Re: New home

"New home" (as in somewhere new to you) or "New house" as in a new build site?  "New home" in a previously occupied property is a very different journey to that for a "New build" property.

New home

There is likely to be some connection at the property already under contract to the current occupants ... who will have probably made arrangements to transfer or cease the service.  In which case their ISP will have placed a CEASE order on the connection which means no other ISPs can raise provide orders until the cease order completes ... probably on their planned move date.

If the property is already vacant (rental arrangement?) you might be in with better luck - call Plusnet sales and see what they can do.

New build

The responsibility for getting the development connected lays with the developer.  Unless fibre has been laid across the site getting connected could take an age.  The broadband availability checker should advise you what is the state of play with BT Openreach.  Some new developments have exclusive wayleaves with altnet providers, meaning standard BT/Openreach availability checkers will show no service.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: New home

Sorry, new to us. The current owners use Sky, but that’s all I know, I’ll try and find out more detail.

Just trying to find out if we can pre-order once we’ve signed contracts.

Definitely no FTTP sadly
