As an aside, there's nothing to stop you changing out the routers now. With the Hub2 up and running change the WiFi credentials in the Admin pages of the router and that's the Hub2 sorted.

Cometh the day and cometh the hour you simply change the DSL lead with the Ethernet cable.

I am not confident about changing the routers over. In case I am unable to connect again.

The second Openreach engineer arrived yesterday.

When he got out of the van he thought he was just there to connect the cable that the groundworkers installed to the outside grey box.

I was not surprised and expected this to happen.

I informed him that there was no ONT inside the property from the previous engineer and that the cable had been cable clipped to the skirting board.

This engineer said that normally the ONT would be fitted inside the property on the outside wall and an extension lead used after that. My ONT is fitted about 2.7 meters inside the property.

He also said that he would not put the ONT quite where the original Engineer had said he would. Apparently this Engineer would be fitting a 2.0 not the 1.0 ONT. So he had to take out 2 cable clips from the skirting board and noticed a kink in the cable.

I must admit I found the whole process rather stressfull being told different things by different Engineers and Groundworkers, not sure what or who to believe.

It is working, I am on FF145.

On my laptop with an Ookala speed test I get about 52 download and 31 upload. I was getting about 7 download and 0.75 upload on BB.

I do not use my mobile for internet but the Engineer suggested the slower than expected speed may be because it is an old laptop. I did the speedtest on my mobile and sure enough I did get 145 download and 47 upload.

One question I have, on the PN2 the blue light does not go all the way around the circle, it is at the top and bottom, is that normal?

That sounds like your laptop is connecting to the 2.4ghz wifi band rather than the 5ghz band.

Does the wifi adaptor in the laptop support 5ghz ?

Followed the instructions "Click on Windows/Start icon and type cmd and press Enter. 2. From within the Command Prompt Type netsh wlan show drivers and press Enter. Look for Radio types supported"

Did not find any information in that regard.

According to AI , the wifi adaptor in that is a dual band so should be able to connect to the 5ghz band on the Hub 2

The HP 14-bs145na comes equipped with a Realtek RTL8821CE-M 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) Wi-Fi adapter. This means it supports dual-band Wi-Fi (the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands) and wireless networking up to the Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) standard.
