Yeah, besides netflix and disney+ I also so some websites now thinking I was in the US. I wonder which database they're all using.
However, I managed to remember to turn off my router last night and have now got a new IP. 213.x ?
I guess the stickiness is a curse when this happens, but a boon now that I have a 'proper' ip. I can't find the lease time (if it even works like that) of the ip in the router manager. Even though the ip is sticky, I assume at some point it will get cycled. That's how I got into this mess in the first place. Is there a place I can see how long the lease time is? And is there a way I can manually extend the lease? To prevent this from happening in the future?
And thanks for all the help btw.

We're expecting the root cause of this to be fixed on Friday evening (that's when the Geo Location service publishes updates) but we don't know at what point each streaming provider/website will pick up the fix from the Geo Location service. Netflix is done and we're in touch with some of the others to see if we can get them to fix sooner.

Disney+ should be fixed. They've asked if a couple of people could test it please and let me know if it's working now.

@sd77 how much of your subscription have you lost? a full period, or part?
you could/should claim that there systems are defective and they have failed to provide you with service of which you paid for
how much money and how much ( long) loss of service are we talking about here?

@sd77 It is not an 'ISP failure' - it is their fault for using an out-of-date/inaccurate IP location database.

Do you know that for a fact John? I've only been getting the updates from this thread and definitely may have missed something, but has somebody from Plusnet confirmed that something about using the BT Americas address range hasn't been part of the reason for these issues?

Not the way I've read it, and from my long experience of the behaviour and tendencies of these American entertainment companies I would stake quite a lot of cash on being correct.

Just because a IP assignment is registered with ARIN (not the South Korean pop singer - but a registry of assigned IP addresses operated by a USA resident compant/NFP) does not mean that the IP addresses are being used by a person (or company) in the USA. Or/and should not be interpreted as being used by someone outside the USA.
This is a more common problem as IPv4 addess space becomes rather tired.
BGP routing tables may be more reliable than IP assignments retrieved from registrars.

well, everything is all back working with UK content, however I am now in the comedic position of getting US adverts on netflix!!!
the way they sell (pharmaceutical) drugs and advertise them is truly scary for a Brit!

My IP is starting with 150. Rebooted router, no change. My IP location showing at Minneapolis US.
Amazon shopping keeps directing me to the US Version. And BET365 will not work at all as it thinks im in the US.
Can this please be fixed asap, its causing problems to everyday things.
Thank you

@Dalleeson are you still seeing problems, I had word that the fix with the Geo Location service was pushed out Thursday/Friday and that Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+, ITVX and Paramount+ had all put fixes in for us earlier in the week but I don't know about Amazon and BET365 and whether they've picked up the fix yet. If they haven't I'll get in contact with them and try and get them to push a fix.
