IP Address Wrongly Identied as US Based - Issues with disney +

Disney plus has decided I'm now not in the UK and therefore various things are not available on the service.
This happened last year as well and this was the only way I could get it sorted, can someone at Plusnet sort it out please

Thread title modified as it's not solely a Disney problem.

Re: Issues with disney +

@DTC

I have checked your IP address against 8 different geolocation databases. Whilst some suggest that the IP address was originally issued in the USA. all confirm that you are located in the UK. It would appear that once more, Disney are using an unknown database that is not being updated regularly or correctly.

My IP resolves to US, not UK.

My streaming services started removing content because I'm suddenly not in the UK, but the US. Some geolocation services put me in UK/London but at least iplocation.net has ISP: BT Americas Inc.

I understand this might not be under control of plus.net. I tried turning the router on and off but I'm not getting a new IP.

Is there a place (not a phone number) where I can talk or report this? Sending HELP to the help phone number is not letting me specify the problem.

Thank you

Can something be done about this? Previously an update has been pushed through

@Wouter Who is your streaming service with - not Disney, by any chance? A number of big providers, especially those headquartered in the US, have a disturbing tendency to work with very out-of-date geolocation databases.

Yeah it started with Disney+. But now also Netflix. I understand it's them and the database they use. And ip ranges do move around. Is there anything I can do about it? -- I'm searching on how to force a new ip address, I might try that.

Not a lot you can do, to be honest, as PN IPs are rather 'sticky'. You could try turning the router off overnight to try and force a change, but even that is not guaranteed to work.

Re: My IP resolves to US, not UK.

Just like the problem encountered last year the problem is with the 150.143.xxx.xxx range. It looks like whichever geoloction data base got it wrong last year has reset.

Confirm what appears as your Public IP is an IP from Plusnet & not from a VPN / Apple Relay etc ...

Also on a 150.143.x.x IP, started with D+ over the weekend showing US content, and then today, Netflix also decided I was in the US ( even though Fast.com correctly identifies the IP ).

Re: Issues with disney +

Happened with me as well, It was fine yesterday but got home from work today and i’ve lost access to programmes i was in the middle of watching on Netflix overnight.

tried looking up the up location and fast.com says i am in minneapolis but other services UK.

Checking Netflix Support it shows the error my tv sees as e103 programme not available in your region

I wonder if a new pool of IP were added in today that were previously US hence multiples get5ing the issue today

150.143.xxx.xxx range IP as well

Re: Issues with disney +

@rawedge No, a 'new pool of IP's was not added  today' - that range has been in the UK for at least 12 months, but  certain organisations use incorrect/out-of-date databases, thereby causing their subscribers a lot of grief.

Re: Issues with disney +

yup, me too. Di9sney + and Netflix both thought i was in US. Disney fixed their end for me after chatting online and they reset their database. Netflix not so much. but this must be a plusnet error
