Got a US registered IP address

Hello,

I renewed my contract the other week and got a Hub Two (FTTC).

It's gotten an IP assigned that's in the UK, but when I use a site like whatismyipaddress.com it shows the ISP as "BT Americas".

IP: 150.143.46.1xx

This has caused things like Disney Plus, and ITVX to believe I'm not in the UK and stop working, or I get the US library with Disney Plus.

I've disconnected/reconnected several times hoping to get a new IP, but get assigned the same one everytime.

What can I do?

Cheers,

@sstwrt

Are you trying to connect from the same router to post here, or are you travelling? I ask because the IP address that you used to post here is registered to be neither in the USA or the UK.

Alternatively are you using a VPN?

Re: Got a US registered IP address

Thanks for the reply.

Yea I'm using the new Hub Two I got but at the same address I've been for 20 odd years.

No VPN, and the apps on my Firestick directly to the router (no vpns) has issues with ITVX thinking it's outside of the UK and refusing to show any live TV.

No VPN, ...

@Baldrick1

Is this IP address in a different block to those being discussed on the other thread, where 10 out of 11 geolocation data providers have the IP addresses correctly located in the UK?

To put the question a different way is this a similar issue, rather than the same issue?

Re: Got a US registered IP address

@sstwrt Thank you for reaching out to us and I'm genuinely sorry to hear this is happening.

We have been made aware of an issue whereby users with Plusnet broadband have been assigned US based IP addresses, thus causing issues with streaming platforms and other applications.

This issue has been raised and we're working towards finding a fix for all customers affected, in the meantime, the "temporary" fix is to turn off the router from the power button for a full 15 minutes, this will allow the router to "forget" the old IP and will acquire a new IP address once is turned back on.

We will update this thread once a fix has been found, in the meantime I extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this is causing

@Townman

This is a funny one. The original post quotes the range under discussion but the OP is posting on this forum from an IP address that is French across all location sites.

That’s why I asked the supplementary question rather than merge it with the others.
