Car won't connect to wifi

I have just bought a Leapmotor B05 and it won't connect to my wifi. A google search has told me that it doesn't like certain IP addresses. I have reset the router to generate a new IP address and it still won't connect. I have tried connecting to both the 5Ghz and the regular one. Can anyone help?

connecting your Leapmotor B05 to you home internet doesn't sound correct to me.

For my Kia I have a "Kia Connect App" this connects to my car using the Kia cloud for which I have an account linked to my vehicle. The Kia App uses a WiFi connection to either my home internet connection or mobile data when I am away from home to remotely control the car.

Research suggests there is a "Leapmotor App" which I assume would work in the same way.

From my understanding of the Nissan Connect Services my Qashqai acts like a WiFi hotspot with a very limited signal and does require an app to comnunicate with the 'outside' world and not directly to a router.

I’m totally confused now. My Toyota has an app but the car is also connected to my home WiFi when I am at home.

Seems like the Leapmotor connects to a wifi network to download OTA updates. Most cars do that with their internal systems!

There's also anecdotal evidence that the B05 doesnt like connecting to a network using the 192.168.1.x subnet, possibly because it conflicts with its internal network. If that's the case then its an awful design since a vast number of off-the-shelf/ISP routers default to that subnet!

I'm also confused, then. Made sure the app is logged into my car while at home and is definitely direct to car and not through the router as doesn't show in devices at all (neither 2.4 or 5 Ghz).

Leads me to believe each manufacturer has its own system?

Hadn't seen @MisterW post.

My Qashqai doesn't need to connect to a router for updates. In fact, I can't anyway.

I can connect it to my Phone's Hotspot when it's own signal is too weak if I want to watch a movie on the display which is much bigger that the phone's.

Yes it's really stupid. What is more concerning is that I have reset the router to generate a new IP address and it still isn't working. It will connect to mobile hot-spot but that doesn't seem good enough it install the software update. Very frustrating!

Unfortunately it is not done through the app with leapmotor but directly through the car, but seems to be incompatible with the IP address. A really stupid design!

Then messing with the router but doing anything less than changing its DHCP LAN address pool (a messy job) is not going to fix this issue.

Can you not use a WiFi extender or WAP that uses a different default pool?

That’s a creative thought!  A WiFi extender will not help as that just extends the WiFi range.  A WiFi AP can be configured to pass through DHCP or run its own DHCP / subnet … but that will result in a double NAT which in some circumstances is problematic.
