Buying broadband for parent

Hi. I was wondering if anyone can advise. I’m looking at getting my elderly mom the fibre broadband as she does not have a phone line. Plus net cover her area and during the searches, they have stayed the require an open reach engineer appointment. I would ideally like to get this running in December so the activation date is just before Christmas (smart tv is a present for her) has anyone had any experience or has done this for a parent at another address? Can you normally get an engineer appointment quite quickly? Would it then be a case of plug in and go straight away?

Is this Full Fibre you'e talking about or FTTC?

Either way if you order now you should get an appointment before the end of the month, I would suggest you be there on the day just to ensure things go well.

Just in case your elderly mom is receiving any benefits (pension credit etc.) there is the option of a social tariff, which offers usable speeds at a much lower price, and can come with Digital Voice (or VoIP with altnets that offer a social tariff).

I arranged a social tariff with BT for a relative, and it works great for them for just £15pm.
