Adding an A-record

Hi, 

Haven't posted for long time, but recent forced move to EE (digital switchover etc) forces me to ask for a bit of Plusnet help. My website hosted for years by Plusnet has been successfully transferred to new site, but DNS records are apparently still pointing to wrong place (force9). As I understand it - I'm definitely no expert - I need to get plus.com to add an A-record. Please, where do I go, or who do I contact, to formally make the request? Thanks

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that ?

EE dont provide any hosting faciliites

I would have expected the Website and the DNS management to both have transferred to the new hosting service.

Sorry, I didn't express the problem very well. I agree EE doesn't provide hosting facilities, and the DNS is still being looked after by Plusnet, specifically NS1.FORCE9.NET and NS2.FORCE9.NET. As I understand it, I need to add A record(s) to get my website content accessible/visible to Siteground servers. Best clarification I can give!

I think that was the Plusnet plan by offering the Greenby route (for digital switchover), but that didn't allow phone landline to be retained, hence my move to EE...

Ok we need a few more details...

Is this your own domain e.g <mydomain>.co.uk hosted by Plusnet or is it a native sub-domain e.g <myaccount>.plus.com ? 

Have you been informed that your account has been moved to Greenby ?

Check if you are able to login to the Greenby portal (www.greenby.com) with your Plusnet account name & password ?

My domain - actually sub-domain if it makes a difference - is <mydomain>.plus.com. I never got as far as Greenby because after contacting EE my Plusnet account was immediately closed. Hence, my website is currently not resolving to an IP address and is in the wilderness!

Oh dear! I'm afraid in that case your website is no more!

If an account is closed BEFORE transfer to Greenby then I'm afraid any email and webspace facilities are gone

You would have been warned about it with the 'sorry you are leaving...' message from Plusnet

My website was supposedly successfully migrated to Siteground via ftp (I gave them the login details). I assume that means the files themselves were migrated, but maybe not?

Either way, I still have the website files myself which I guess I can upload somewhere. God, it's so complicated...

So did you create a new domain with Siteground ? in which case all the DNS control will be with them.

In which case your website should be accessible via the new domain
