I know ADSL is no longer available, but FTTP 40/10 should be, but I can’t find anyone able to supply this.
I know 3Mbps is 3 x ADSL but it is only a third of what I should be getting on 40/10.

On your THG3000 router have you checked that the WiFi settings allow the widest bandwidth to give best throughput ?
Login to your router.
At the top right of the screen select "Expert Mode"
In the red bar, click on "Wi-Fi"
Then select the "Wi-Fi Settings" menu option
In the 2.4GHz section, ensure -
"Wi-Fi Mode" is selected as "Mixed 802.11b/g/n"
"Bandwidth" is set to "20/40MHz"
In the 5GHz section, ensure -
"Wi-Fi Mode" is selected as "Mixed 802.11n/ac"
"Bandwidth" is set to "20/40/80MHz"

I haven’t but will do: thanks!
B/W was set to 20 not 20/40, so fingers crossed.
Although 5G was correct and that is what iPads use, but …..

What do your BTW IP profiles look like ?
If you first run the BT Wholesale Broadband Performance Test
then press the <Additional Diagnostic> button
then press <Telephone Number (DN) > button
enter your phone number in the "Telephone number of the broadband service" box below,
and then press <Run Diagnostic> button
Let the test run ... ... ...
and then post back here a screenshot of the results page

@Anonymous The Op is on FTTP there will be no telephone number associated with the Fibre line.
His speed problems are basically flawed testing using Ipads on Wi-FI.
Have a look at this BT Wholesale test result in my earlier post done with an Iphone with presumably better wi-fi speeds.

Looks about right for a 40/10 service.

Reading the link below the results I see I need a router with SQM. Does my THG3000? And even less likely does the router supplied by TalkTalk have it? I know; I wouldn’t go for TalkTalk out of choice, but I can’t find anyone else to replace Vodafone.
