Re: unknown sender error from relay.force9.net - possible solution to do with force9 vs. f9 address

@Townman I was getting an error sending FROM the force9 variant, but I could receive emails sent TO it.

Both work for the f9 variant.

Now I no longer get an error message when sending from the force9 variant, but emails sent from the force9 variant do not arrive, at least not when sent to a gmail email address.

Re: unknown sender error from relay.force9.net - possible solution to do with force9 vs. f9 address

Sending to Gmail will have a specific set of challenges, due to their draconian measures.  Being able to send to and from force9 (to reasonable mail platforms) is a first layer clarification.  That means f9 and force9 are again interchangeable.

Sorting the belligerent behaviour of Gmail is then a separate issue.

@plusnettony

I too am now unable to send mail using relay.force9.net

Something has changed, it would be nice to have it fixed again.

Thanks for looking into it.

This Force9/F9 issue should now be resolved. If issues haven't, please describe your issue again so I can raise.

Re: unknown sender error from relay.force9.net - possible solution to do with force9 vs. f9 address

Hi Tony,

Many thanks. I have just tried again to send email via relay.force9.net and I still get the following error:

host relay.force9.net[91.204.208.196] said: 451 4.3.2 Internal server error (in reply to RCPT TO command))

451 errors are supposed to be temporary issues aren't they ?

Thanks again.

Re: unknown sender error from relay.force9.net - possible solution to do with force9 vs. f9 address

@plusnettony

Thank you, but while I no longer get error messages, the force9 address still does not seem to work the same as the f9.

As of last night, emails sent from force9 address were NOT arriving at a Gmail address and  at at least one other address. No  error messages.

Emails from f9 address do go through to gmail.

The only address I have been sending to successfully from force9 address has been another address on the same force9 email server.

I am still unclear what the portal and other settings should be.

Have set Mail (Mac) to automatically manage connection settings for now, which is what I had before.
