mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

Can you please fix this setting. It’s beyond my capabilities.

I get this error message when sending emails to a group I’m a member of. Plusnet help desk staff tell me they are unable to fix it!
Please can you advise me in simple terms what I must do?

“Your group email was sent from a domain that either has no or mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections, which modern email security expects.
Please contact your email provider if you are unsure how this should be configured.”

Re: mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

Welcome to the forums, @Mike26 . Whathas generated that message - the recipients email platform, I'm guessing. Are you sending from a 'myname@myaccount.plus.com' address or a 'myname@myydomain.co.uk' one?

@Mike26 - You could try the steps here as that should provide your domain with an SPF record.

Thank you for the advice, but when I follow that link it takes me to the attached, but there are no domains listed!

Are you sure your DOMAIN is hosted by Plusnet - that image would seem to suggest not, but @Gandalf  - or possibly one of the more domain intelligent Community members can tell us we are wrong.

Re: mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

Yes, originally Freenetname, taken over by Madasafish then Plusnet.

Re: mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

Ah, that may explain it - I understand the Madasafish brands don't have this facility, but again, please wait for a response from @Gandalf .

Re: mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

That’s correct @jab1

Unfortunately, there’s no control panel for domains hosted on Madasafish (incl. Freenetname) accounts.

If the email is being rejected due to no SPF or DKIM, then I’m afraid it looks like the only option is to transfer the domain registration and hosting to another provider, who may be able to offer this capability.

Re: mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

Thanks for taking the time to advise me. I’ve passed it back to Plusnet help desk but am not hopeful!

Assuming I will have to find a new host, I guess there’s not another free one I can transfer to. Can you recommend one that’s cost effective for a personal domain used almost entirely for email?

Re: mis-configured SPF, DKIM or DMARC protections

@Mike26 Plusnet help desk cannot do anything - there is no domain control on Freenetname domains, as advised.

As to who you could transfer maybe others could advise, this is outside my experience.

@Mike26 do you just use a single mailbox with your domain ?

Take a look at Mythic Beasts Hosting - Shell Accounts - UK-based - Mythic Beasts (mythic-beasts.com) £2pcm (email only) would ace your needs.
