Use of wildcards in alias addresses

Is it possible to use wildcards in aliases? For instance, could I send all emails addressed to his-*@username. to the his@username mailbox, whatever the value of * ?

Re: Use of wildcards in alias addresses

In a word "No"!

  1. "*" is not a permitted character in an email alias address
  2. Email name parsing does not work like that

What are you seeking to achieve?  Might the catchall functionality work for you?  Anything not matching an explicitly configured address is directed to the catchall mailbox.

Re: Use of wildcards in alias addresses

Thanks for the reply, Townman.  I rather thought it would be as you say. I do use the catch-all on my main mailbox, but I wanted to split off some sub-sets of messages into other mailboxes. It's going to be cumbersome to redirect each of the addresses I use to its appropriate mailbox, but I may have to do that....
