Is the address you are sending from a mailboxname@yourdomain.... or not?

If not, do you have an alias set up for the address you are sending from?

If not, then your mailbox may be a catch-all, so you can receive emails to that address, but in order to SEND emails with that address it appears that Greenby now require you to have an alias for the address.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

As least you can get into webmail. All I get told is to check my credentials. God knows what that means. (I have raised a ticket, so perhaps some representative of God will enlighten me in common English.)

Worse still, I had an email of mine (sent via Thunderbird) bounced with the message

Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list

Oh really? My addressee uses Outlook and I do seem to recall Outlook cannot cope with Plusnet-style email addresses. Well, it was all right at Christmas. Saints preserve us from this seeming inability for anybody to do anything right.

@mavison  - yes , sending from  dave@ blahblah.plus.com as I always have done.

As far as I'm aware I haven't been migrated yet.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

@davidj66

But is dave the actual name of one of your pkusnet mailboxes, or just an email address within a mailbox?

Re migration: if new incoming emails still have an Envelope-To header you have probably not been migrated.

If you have a Delivered-To header you probably are migrated.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Header did include "delivered to" so presumed migrated.

In fact I have just checked spam email on Yahoo addy used as contact for PN account , and there is an email there from Greenby dated 9th March!

But nothing was picked up from the actual PN mailbox. I'll carry on for a few more weeks then probably close the Greenby/PN account as I don't think any contacts (of recent vintage anyway!) use the PN address.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Anyone have anything good to say about the new Greenby email system? No? 🤔

Well then, I'll have a go... 😃

I find the updated Greenby Roundcube webmail UI readily useable via a mobile phone, unlike the older Plusnet one.

The old PN version was strictly for desktop users. I've tried using it (PN system) on my recently acquired smartphone and, while it is possible, it is very tricky. Just trying to log on via mobile to the Plusnet webmail system feels rather like trying to thread a needle!

Logging on to the Greenby email system ought to be easier. It has many holes. 😄

@redsox9

...So why is it seemingly proving so difficult for so many? 😉

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

@pvmb I've no idea - I have suffered no problems logging on since the switch, the only issues I have had are random mailboxes failing to authenticate at start-up first thing in a morning. Although I don't use webmail (or IMAP) , I have, just to check, logged into my portal occasionally to check integrity, with no issues.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

FWIW

Many weeks on since I understood I had been fully migrated I am still getting 'Welcome to Greenby' emails.

On a side note and I have yet to look......

Does anyone know, does Greenby have a global 'white' and 'black' list?

I ask because I am still getting a number of spam to the my aforementioned mailboxes.  So was thinking if there was a Blacklist I could put add the domains Smiley

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

There is apparently a global whitelist/blacklist but only for fully specified email sender addresses, no wildcards or domains.
I use it but spammers keep tweaking addresses so I can't keep up.
There is also supposed to be a spam detection aggression setting but that seems useless, anything less than 10 seems to mark good email as spam.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Thanks for the reply and inisights.

Yes, it seems we(the customers) are on a hiding to nothing trying to wrangle the spam Sad

It is such a a pity that, n my case I noticed the increase before official migration and the amount of spam since the full migration reached, for me, a new time high.

This is the 21stC and by now I would have thought the controls available to mitigate, as far as possible, the spam would have grown with the problems increase ~ c'est la vie Sad

Edit ~ it is a pity that such Blacklisting cannot accommodate the text i.e. if the spam has steak sampler in the 'subject' or 'from' and is common to various domain sources, that would be useful.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Yes - and how about the opposite problem - where "bad actor(s)" uses one's email address to CREATE malicious spam.

I've moaned at length about this happening to me on another thread here.

Currently getting sporadic emails telling me I've been reported to the FBI.

Nobody thinks anything can be done about it - except hope it will pass.

I'm sure back in the early days of email there was discussion/dispute over whether emails should require a "handshake"

I seem to recall Microsoft wanted emails open and won.

Oh for the days of Fidonet!

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Does anybody know if the transfer / migration of Totalise emails and personal web sites to Greenby has begun  for any users ?

I ask, as my Plusnet emails have been migrated ok, but my Totalise has not.

I want to move away (cease my Plusnet broadband and move my landline number to VOIP) but the moment I do; then I believe Plusnet will cease and delete my Totalise email and web site accounts and obviously I do not want this until Totalise is migrated

.So I have been patiently waiting since July-ish 2025 and paying for a broadband I dont use any more.

I feel it is really bad that Plusnet cannot seem to give any estimate whatsoever of when this is supposed to happen.after having been such a loyal customer ever since they took on us Totalise refugees all those years ago
