Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

@PhilipHeyes

You are missing nothing of particular note.  Iirc that change was more than a week ago.  It’s related to infrastructure changes.

@peebee

As advised by the business earlier in the thread, users will receive communication on migration at the time appropriate for that individual.

The support advice “you SHOULD be using webmail” was inappropriate.  @James_B can feedback be provided please.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

I have just received my notification - but nearly didn't. The Plain Text message was about a change to text services on landline phones which took place in June (it didn't say which year). I spent a lot of time checking through the headers and searching this forum in case it was some sort of phishing spam.

Eventually I clicked a button in my MUA to see the coded version and found the real message about the migration. I was just about to give up as I have no landline anyway and could easily have missed the message. As I don't use my PN address for any incoming mail apart from PN's messages I think I can safely opt out and avoid the future charges.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

If you are paying a monthly subscription to Plusnet for you broadband service,
you will get the first two years free with the GreenBy email service - so there is no need to act quickly.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

I'm a bit confused by statements in the Q&A section of the notification I have just received.

Can I choose not to move to the new service?
If you choose to opt out you will be opting out of migrating your email. If you do not switch to another provider before opting out this will mean losing your services.

What happens if I do nothing?
If you have Plusnet broadbandYour email service will continue as normal, but if you don’t create an account with Greenby, you won’t be able to change any email settings

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Confused in what way?

You only need to act proactively to choose NOT to migrate.  If you choose not to migrate, your service will cease.

If you do nothing the service will be migrated.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

It could have been worded more clearly.  E.g:

What happens if I do nothing?
If you have Plusnet broadbandYour email service will continue as normal, but with Greenby instead of Plusnet. If you don’t create an account with Greenby, you won’t be able to change any email settings with them.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Good afternoon.  I am a Plusnet broadband and phone account user and have just received (16 Oct) an email from PN telling me about the migration to Greenby.  I understand I am  to do nothing until I receive a further mail ( ? from Greenby or Plusnet ?) but in the meantime I have a question : ref:  " Your email service will continue as normal, but with Greenby instead of Plusnet "  -  I use Thunderbird as my email client and hopefully that will migrate OK, but my husband (94 and no longer very techie sure of himself !) has an email mailbox and prefers to use PN Webmail for his email activity and I am not sure if that will migrate or whether I will have to put him onto Thunderbird (which might be a little tricky !).  Is anyone able to give me some advice on this, please.

(Sorry if I have replied to the wrong post - this is my first "post"  and I  wasn`t sure how to get started !)

Julia

@jempeff77

A warm welcome to the forums.

Worry not, just keep doing what you do, it should all be seamless.  Webmail is just another email client connecting to the mail service the same as Thunderbird does.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

@jempeff77 The webmail will function with Greenby exactly as it does with Plusnet - no need to worry.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

For clarification, the webmail interface has been running in Greenby space for several weeks.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

I received the transfer notification email yesterday and it stated "changes" to the generic postmaster@username.plus.com
I can only surmise that all of my mailboxes will be moved?.
Though in the email it says this

"We will begin transferring mailboxes from 24th November 2025. You will still have access during this time."

So, is that a recognition of the fact that I have multiple mailboxes....perhaps compared to some other PN members???

PS

Of note the Greenby service will be FoC for 2 years (I think I recall seeing that mentioned elsewhere) so plenty of time to to make any changes that might be required before they charge for the service Smiley:)

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

It is the full email account, including all mailboxes,  which is transferred.
