Re: Total Greenby foul-up

I am tempted to delete that mailbox as it is very rarely used these days.

@jab1 appreciated, but if you don't mind can you try the full emailaddress as username and a password change if that doesnt work. I then have a complete picture to pass up to the correct people...

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

These migrations can tale a few days for everything to replicate into place.
I am making no changes to the mail boxes.

I have entered my full address details and paid the £15 fee,
and in the email settings disabled the Greenby SPAM filter,  for the POP3 a/c I like all messages to stay in the inbox.

Perhaps the slow access is what is disrupting your email client at the moment,
I have 90 seconds as a time out in MS Outlook, a super short time out could fail on a tardy server.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

Will do, @MisterW , but  where do I input the full email address - sorry, but after so long with  no issues I am a little out of touch with changing email practice.

In the User name: field if using MS Outlook

or as the first entry for the Greenby webmail.

I don't (and won't) use Outlook, and Greenby's apology for a webmail client is too much of a failure, @PhilipHeyes

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

Weirder and weirder - the issue appears to have resolved itself (for now), but although I can manually check for mail - I don't usually - I now have a constantly scrolling 'progress bar' at the bottom right of the Thunderbird window.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

@jab1 time to sit on your hands for a day or two, you now know the configuration works.

For us the bit that was missing was the email accounts did not appear in the Greenby portal, the <domain>.plus.net was shown.  The AI support suggested look again after 24 hours, well it was almost 48 hours later that all the email a/c appeared in the Greenby portal. I am pleased to see them again.

The Greenby email server help text is a bit inconsistent, In some places suggesting use the old standard of email ports and no encryption, a very insecure practice.  But in other places saying use the modern ports and do use encryption, good practice.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

I've seen Thunderbird not clear the status bar sometimes.

either its still trying to download mail or its just left the progress bar showing.

If it will do a manual collection from another mailbox immediatley , then its the latter...

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

Well, I've paid for a year of Greenby, but that will be it - I've only done it in case I've forgotten any 'once a year' correspondents, although I don't  think I have.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

The good news is that if you setup forwarders on your Greenby account, it implements SRS so forwarded email has a pretty good chance of arriving

Is the Greenby bot reading this forum?

Done that for the two mailboxes that are important, we'll see how it goes.
