Total Greenby foul-up

Without any warning -and yes I did check the junk folder - my email account transferred to Greenby yesterday morning and when I got home in the evening I went through the torture of resetting everything.

I think I reset everything correctly, but one of my mailboxes stubbornly refuses to connect, constantly asking for the password, even though it is set exactly as the other three that connect with no issue - go figure!

I refuse to ask the incompetent bot for assistance as I know from what I have read on here previously that it will reply with lies or totally wrong 'guidance', and I just don't have the time or patience to read (and not act) on information I know to be totally wrong - and probably malicious.

Fortunately, the vast majority of my contacts have been transferred to a reliable email host, but there are a couple who are playing silly beggars, and although I am getting somewhere, I suspect I am going to  have issues.

WHY ARE PLUSNET/BT CONSUMER DIVISION IGNORING THESE ISSUES AND WALKING AROUND WITH THEIR FINGER IN THEIR EARS AND MOUTHS FIRMLY SHUT?

Does that mailbox show in the Greenby portal ?

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

Yup - all four of my personally created mailboxes, along with the 'accountname@accountname.plus.com' mailbox are showing in the portal.

As others have said, and I have now experienced, the system does not work properly.

I'm surprised that you of all people, with your long experience of PNs decline since it became part of PN, have to ask such a question.

Mind you, a good rant can make you feel a bit better, can't it?

Anything unusual in the mailbox name or the password ?

It can, @stuck . I'm really just reinforcing comments I have made slightly less unkindly elsewhere - I'm sure you've seen them. 😉

Again, nothing out of the ordinary. It is a seven-letter name, with  an 8 character password which has been in existence for 14 years with no prior issues.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

Are you using the full email address as the username or the account+mailbox format ?

Can the problem mail box be accessed via webmail : https://webmail.greenby.com/

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

Good question - I assume it is the account+mailbox, as it was with PN, and still is with the other (functioning) mailboxes.

@PhilipHeyes Yes - eventually, but waiting for it to appear is worse than watching paint dry.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

All of my PN email a/c are configured with Credentials in the format:  Email_Address / Password
I abandoned the older style of domain+forename.surname years ago.

Using the Email_Address / Password and via POP3S / IMAPS ./ SMTPS our seven PN email A/Cs transferred to Greeny on Monday evening and kept working without any adjustments.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

AIUI both formats SHOULD work, but just trying to establish the complete picture.

Might be worth trying the full email address to see if that works.

IF that makes no difference, then my guess is that the migration hasn't transferred the password correctly for that mailbox.

You could try changing the password from the Greenby portal OR (purely for interest!) try Greenby support to see how it performs (or not!)

As said previously, @PhilipHeyes , there is just this one mailbox throwing a hissyfit, no rhyme nor reason.

Re: Total Greenby foul-up

@MisterW I am tempted to delete that mailbox as it is very rarely used these days.

To be honest, I was surprised there was only that one issue, and only made the topic as a point of information (and to relieve my frustration).
