Sending to Yahoo and AOL email accounts

Has anybody had issues with sending to Yahoo and AOL accounts in the last week or so?

I have contacts with all sorts of email addresses and they have been working for a number of years. Just recently all the emails that use Yahoo or AOL have been bounced.

I got round that by sending the self same email from my gmail account, but that route also seems to be giving the same error 554 message.

I have still to bottom out whether it is because of a pdf attachment or a word attachment or having both attachments is the problem.

Re: Sending to Yahoo and AOL email accounts

What is going on... now outlook.com addresses are an issue

This error is now being generated...

<xxxxx@outlook.com>:
550: 5.7.515 Access denied, sending domain OFFSCOTLAND.PLUS.COM doesn't meet the required authentication level. The sender's domain in the 5322.From address doesn't meet the authentication requirements defined for the sender. To learn how to fix this see: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2319303 Spf= Fail , Dkim= Pass , DMARC= Pass [SJ0P220MB0635.NAMP220.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM 2025-09-01T08:56:25.885Z 08DDE8EF90E9A086] [DB7PR03CA0078.eurprd03.prod.outlook.com 2025-09-01T08:56:25.954Z 08DDE91287521B71] [DU6PEPF0000A7DE.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com 2025-09-01T08:56:25.958Z 08DDE7724AD00479]

I have changed nothing in my setup as far as I am aware and I have used the xxx@outlook.com address (changed on this cut/paste to protect the user) for a long time

Are you sending via relay.plus.net?

Is the FROM address someone@******.PLUS.COM ?

Sending via another SMTP service or sending by some other identity (you@somewhere-else.com) WILL give rise to this failure.  You might not have changed anything, but Microsoft in their arrogance has changed a multitude of rule sets over recent weeks.

Re: Sending to Yahoo and AOL email accounts

I am using webmail while logged in at shown by the OFFSCOTLAND.PLUS.COM in the message back from Yahoo.

If this means I use relay.plus.net then yes, otherwise I have no idea.

I realise that the email address I actually send to must be an alias as I send to xxxx@rogers.com. Maybe this is significant?

Re: Sending to Yahoo and AOL email accounts

Today, trying to send to an email address I know to be in Taiwan I got this bounced reply

Final-recipient: rfc822; xxxx@alltekmarine.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 Your access IP (84.93.230.250) to submit messages to this e-mail system has been rejected.

So is this IP address significant?
