Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

Forgot to add this earlier:-

  • Email brand - IC24
  • The email client being used - Plusnet Webmail
  • How authentication (if any) is being done with the SMTP server - Email Address
  • Mail box type - Default

Still unable to send emails (and get the: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed error)
receiving emails ok, but cant reply to any (or send new)

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

Morning All

Has anyone made any progress on this, as the issue is still there, and its beginning to gripe (to say the least)
Any suggestions, as Ive tried so many options, and all I end up having to do is use an alternate method to reply.

Logic says, it used to work, so it must be fixable (or have PN totally F****/Broke it)

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

ic24 and icScotland users...

I believe that the issue sending with webmail remains under investigation.  If any one using these brands using a client other then webmail still cannot send emails, can you please indicate that here.

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

Can you send using a local email client?  You do not have to use webmail - you can use other devices / email clients.

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

Hi
I am not blocked as I can send emails with Outlook on my desktop and on my Samsung Android phone. I sent my message to inform/confirm that the Webmail error has not been fixed yet.

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

As per post #35 the inability to send using ic24 and icSoctland via webmail remains under investigation - users of these email services should now not be experiencing issues using other devices ... as you helpfully confirm.

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

Good to know this (now long standing) issue is still under investigation...

Doesnt feel like its a 'priority' though!
Timescale wise, should this incident/outage have been escallated, as its been many (MANY) weeks now, and no progress to a resolution.

Kinda feels like PN are giving it lipservice rather than full attention.
Is there any ETR, or progress updates?

Frustrating for me (and others) as I cannot send anything, so cannot reply to emails at all!

@Robbie69

There is nothing to stop you using an email application of your own choosing - there is no obligation to use the webmail interface, which is the component which is coughing here.

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

An IC24 problem was resolved further up this thread.

Of the three people here who still can't send, can you confirm the error you get in webmail? If you'd like to PM me a screenshot, this could be really helpful.

Thanks

Re: SMTP Error (535): Authentication Failed

@SuePugh

A warm welcome to the forums.

Not sending or receiving emails... it helps to know how you are accessing the email service and the error responses (if any) you receive.

This thread is related to authentication (535 error) failures when attempting to send ic24 / icScotland emails using the webmail interface.

If you are also not receiving new emails (with no error reports), then there is every possibility that your mailbox is full.  These brands have 250MB storage capacity, which is readily consumed if email is used as a courier service for shipping large documents or images.
