In the instructions about moving to EE (because I wish to retain a landline phone) it says I will lose my email dddress (,,, ic24.net). But I understood my email had been moved to Greenby and would thus be retained. Which is correct ?

@MAL10 IIRC ic24.net mail accounts are managed via the Madasafish portal and are therefore separate from your Plusnet broadband account. If I'm correct, then irrespective of whether its migrated to Greenby or not, your email account would not be affected when your Plusnet account closes on a transfer to EE.
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Just to be clear.
You don't have to move to EE to keep your landline - it's just the easiest way to do it.
You could stay with PN, transfer your service to either SOGEA (FTTC without a phone) or FTTP (it it's available) and then port your number out to a VOIP provider. This takes a bit more work and will result in a few days downtime on the phone but ultimately gives you a choice of providers for each service and may be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks for reply. Regrettably as an 82 year old, completely non-techie, I'm afraid the various abbreviations/groups of letters are completely meaningless to me.
I just want the process being forced on me to be as simple as possible. Fortunately I have until September before my current contract finishes, so I will try to speak to someone on the Plusnet number for a simple yes or no assurance. Hopefully I will be able to retain my IC24.net email and not have to spend hours changing everyone to a new email. So much for tehnology making life simpler !

I don't know which phone number you were given but one you could try is the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632.
The only abbreviation that really matters in your case is VOIP - Voice Over Internet Protocol (a digital phone ervice in other words). With EE you'll be on what's known as Digital Voice - the BT version of VOIP. You'll receive a new router where you plug your phone into.
Couple of things to note. VOIP does not work during power cuts. Given your age I would try and get a battery backup power unit out of EE. Also register with them as a "vulnerable person"
The other thing is house phone extensions don't work with VOIP without a bit of work. Doesn't really matter it you use DECT phones.

Do you lose the 1471 and 1571 services with Digital Voice or does it depend why provider you use?

Hi Brian
Thanks for further info.
The suggestion about battery back-up and vulnerable person is very helpful, especially as I am currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Also noted the mention of extensions - we have two in addition to the main. One of these is a base plus 3 'wireless' extensions from it.
I obviously need to do some questioning of EE people before progressing
All the best

If not already registered as vulnerable with PN you can do so online in your Members page. This requires them to take care when sorting out your PSTN phone.
As to house extensions have a look at the following video. It gives an idea of the problems and solution.

Forgot to ask if you have any Care alarms connected to the phone service. If you do, these need to be sorted before you change to digital phone.

Hi Brian
No Care alarms, thanks for asking.
Going off at a slight tangent - my wish to retain my ic24.net email address may be a complete waste of time. I have just discovered that since Plusnet moved me to Greenby, emails sent to gmail.com addresses simply never arrive. This is not just me - there are countless reports on Trust Pilot and elsewhere about this problem with gmail (and other recipients) since Plusnet hived off emails to Greenby.
I don't know if you were aware of this, but it certainly hasn't done the reputation of Plusnet any favours
Looks as if I will be spending a lot of time notifying my contacts about a change of email address.

I only have a PN email address so I've not had any major problems.
I would look at the email forum on here to see what's being said and, if need be, start a new thread for your problem.
