Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Hi James, I've been using Madasafish, then totalise which transfered to plusnet, I've had problems during this time, some of which took months to correct, which really is not great when running a business. Just recently all my devices have stopped receiving emails from totalise, no settings have been change by me, so I first lost emails on my Imac, then each iphone and then lastly my ipad. Now I can't receive any emails. Is this related to the Greenby/Plusnet email transition. If not can you offer any help?

Regards,

Anthony

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Very much doubt that this is connected to the migration activity.  What error messages are you getting?

There is a breaking issue with security certificates on old Apple platforms which is not directly related to the Plusnet email platforms, but rather old Apple security root certificates.  See https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Mail-can-t-verify-the-identity-of-the-server-imap-plus-net-quot/...

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

The message I get is

Unable to verify account name or password.

My Iphones and other devices are running the latest O/S.

It's very strange, it's like someone switched something off

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

See the other thread and follow the guidance to look at the security certificate package for each Apple device.

Then on the iMAC follow the email server connection diagnostic guide (see link below) and report back your experience.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

With respect, over the years I have been with totalise/madasafish and also plus net, when I encounter problems, I'm told to change this setting or that setting, which in the past I have done only to find it didn't work. I was once locked of my emails because someone in admin changed my password, and didn't tell me. So to end, I do not think it's my problem.

And here is a really good reason, I have two sub email accounts linked to my totalise account, both of which have no issues receiving or sending emails, on iphones/iPads/iMac.

The last time I had a problem it took six months to find the problem, ADMIN problem not user problem.

Looking forward to your reply.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

There are potentially two issues here - the one I have referred you to impacting Apple devices related to stale root certificates in Apple's OS ... and indeed (but I think unlikely) something related to the email platform migration.

The diagnostic allows the end user to verify their credentials and flush out issues hidden by the email agent through self help.  Your other alternative is to just call support... and see what help they can offer for you.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Thanks again for your reply, calling support for a totalise account will not get me anywhere, tried that in the past, reply, we don't supply support to legacy accounts, please use the online forms someone will help, not really>>>

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

But the business does and it should.

The issue elsewhere is very much looking like in falls in the lap of Apple and a need for them to update root certificates across their platforms.  You need to identify which one of the two potential issues you are encountering.  Your options are either self help (use the diagnostics) or engage with the support channel.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Thanks for your message, I've tried all my devices and still not receiving mail to my totalise.co.uk, but each of my sub accounts receive and send emails, which is very strange, as they have almost the same setting, just different user name and password.

Thanks for your help so far.

Regards,

Anthony

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Just to follow up, my email account at totalise, my mail box has been completely emptied, my sub account has had all the emails returned to the account, yesterday it was showing 197 emails, today it showed over 1k.

I have cleaned all my accounts, somewhere somehow someone is changing things which are clearly out of my control.

I'm not finding this funny, in any way, don't tell me to change this or do that........

Someone is missing with the settings.

Not happy.......

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

No back end changes have been made recently to MAAF emails. so I'm at a loss to explain your situation. However, I am pleased to see the mail is where you expect it to be.

@atmitch

As a precaution, you might consider changing the passwords, just in case the mailboxes have been hacked and there is a third party accessing them.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Many thanks for your reply, I have been told in the past that no changes have been made to my account, only to find out that my my password had been set, and after months of finding out there was a second sent item folder hided in the setting, which was full. I am say all of this not to complain, but to let other's know it may not be you problem.

In the past I've been told to change, this, then that and then creat new passwords, all of which didn't work, I left everything as it was, and my emails appeared as normal. Take from that what you like....
