Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@MisterW

I have received my Welcome to Greenby email (groan). It says "Simply log in with your Plusnet email credentials at greenby.com to access your mailbox and continue using your email as usual."

Does this only apply if you want to use webmail (I use MS Outlook not webmail) or do I still have to log in to continue using my email as usual? Does logging in (or not) cause anything in particular to happen (e.g. activates chaos generator)?

Presumably what other people have written about spam and junk will apply anyway?

@abitpedantic I think you need to login once to accept any T & C s and acknowledge that you wish to keep the email active. After that you don't need to login until its time to renew ( 2 yrs if you have a Plusnet broadband account )

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@abitpedantic You also would need to log in to Greenby to change any settings for email Passwords, Mailboxes, Aliases, Forwarders, Filters, Spam settings etc. It also shows how much space you have used overall and in each of the mailboxes - bearing in mind there is a hard 2GB total limit, above which things stop! And it enables support if you have any email problems. Greenby.com replaces the Plusnet "Manage your Mailboxes" pages.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I would now suggest that you log onto both your main account & any aliases webmail daily to examine your Junk folder, today I have found terms & conditions from Octopus Energy in there which had to be returned to them before yesterday, which now may cause me a major issue.

There were other emails of slightly less importance in there as well, what I fail to understand is that I have received several emails from the same Octopus email address all week, why did it suddenly decide this one was Junk!

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I would have thought that Outlook will (or could) display all folders in the mailbox?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

As I found when I first joined Plusnet, spam/junk filters are hit and miss. I fairly quickly turned all filters off. Having said that, I must admit to having MailWasher installed, so use that to filter, which means the crud never gets anywhere near my inbox.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

A regular Monday newsletter has been sent to Spam. I've logged into Greenby, gone to webmail then Settings but I can't find anything about Anti-Spam settings - what am I missing?

Also, I have sent an email but it is stuck in the Outbox - any ideas how to get it to go? I've tried restarting Outlook and resending it but the same thing happens.

Edited - the recipients have received both emails despite them still being in my Outbox. Is this going to be a permanent Greenby 'feature'?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thank you for raising the Octopus issue.

My latest Octopus bill was in the junk folder dated 3rd Feb. I was not caught unawares - having checked a bill existed on the Octopus website when none arrived.

And I thought they were vexed at me not responding to numerous solicitations and threats about smart meter to charge my car |(which I have never owned in 72 years) at cheap rate!

Seriously my spam folder contains 250 emails - some of which I recognise as having been transferred to Thunderbird - and some I've never seen before such as:

Subject COMPENSATIION FUNDS
From Mr.Kashyap Pramod Patel
Date 2026-02-04 20:58
This email come to those who are yet to receive their compensation/inheritance/winnings and who have been scammed in any part of the world, this includes every foreign contractors that may have not received their contract sum, and people that have an unfinished transaction or Compensation payments that
etcetc
interestingly that seems to have been correctly junked by Greenby, evem though I had not set up such a requirement:
---------------------------------------------
Spam detection software, running on the system "WIN-D3LSODO9BDP",
has identified this incoming email as possible spam.  The original
message has been attached to this so you can view it or label
similar future email.  If you have any questions, see
d.kim@ibkgeo.uz for details.

I was completely unaware that Greenby had been "junking" some of my emails

The AntiSpam setting is for your account, not for a mailbox, which Webmail is connected to.

Simply Log in to greenby.com. You should see a list of Recent Products, where there should be Email
Click on Manage, which should show a list of your mailboxes.
Above this are Mailboxes, Forwarders, Filters, Settings, ...
Click on Settings and you should see the AntiSpam setting.

Note that some settings from Plusnet are not longer available eg add [Spam] to subject, and move to another mailbox.

On POP3 Outlook will not collect from the Greenby junk folder - only from the Inbox.

Indeed that is true, and it is a restriction of POP3 not Outlook.

I had assumed @abitpedantic would be using IMAP with Outlook, otherwise he would not have been able to see any spam messages from Plusnet days - unless of course he was directing them to another mailbox, as I used to be able to do.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Yes, we've found this too - email from Plusnet being marked as Spam by Greenby even with the spam filter set to almost its least aggressive setting.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thanks @mavison for pointing me to the right place. I've decreased the aggression (a word that Greenby can't spell) and we'll see what happens.

The Outbox issue seems to have resolved itself but I now have a proliferation of email folders. Before where I just had Sent, Drafts, Trash and Spam, I now also have INBOX.Sent, Drafts1, INBOX.Drafts, INBOX.Trash and INBOX.Spam.

At least I haven't lost all my emails ... yet!

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@abitpedantic With the 'aggression' set to 10 we were still getting legitimate emails put into the junk folder. I've now switched off the spam filter totally and will see how that goes....

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Oh dear, I spoke to soon in #598 as all my email folders have now vanished. Of course, the previously mentioned unexplained extra folders are still there. Are my folders likely to reappear or will I have to beg for them?
