So spent time communicating with the Greenby AI bot amending a support ticket. Ended up at the point where the AI bot just kept more or less repeating the same respsonse so left it as follows once the AI Bot offered to draft a support ticket which i requested.
Thanks — that’s perfect. I’ve drafted a support ticket you can copy/paste:
Subject: Correct billing cycle for Metronet email (annual after 30‑day free period)
Details:
- Username: “?????”
- Email: user@metronet.co.uk
- Current display in Billing > Services: “EMail-Connected 2GB” — Status: Active — Start date: 03/09/2025 — Renewal: 04/10/2025 — Price: £12.50/month
- Request: Please correct my billing to match the migration terms for customers without active Plusnet broadband:
- 30‑day free period after migration (from 03/09/2025)
- Then annual billing
- Apply the correct annual price per the migration FAQ and confirm the next renewal date accordingly.
notes:
- I understand from the FAQ that the post‑migration service should move to annual billing. Please update my plan and confirm the price and renewal date.
Once submitted, a human agent will adjust the billing cycle and confirm the correct annual price and next renewal date. If you already have a ticket open for billing, update that existing ticket with the above instead of creating a new one.
Anything else you’d like me to include or rephrase before you send it?

@Rickmia18 If that is the level of 'service' Greenby are going to offer, I am very tempted to move my email provision elsewhere, which is something I really, really didn't want to do.

@MisterW re. images - not sure what you're referring to, I did sent some screenshots but in a PM to plusnettony. If it's going to help, happy to send again suitably redacted, just let me know - PM me if needs be..
Regarding the various "access denied" messages, surely it's a better design discipline to just not show irrelevant menu options than show them and follow with a security violation message? - the latter approach hints that something is indeed wrong.
In any case it's not just menu options - I see a billing record, which contains some very wrong information, and click on it to see what detail it holds, and get "access denied". That does scream out that there's a problem.

@pwberry re. images - not sure what you're referring to,
They're some screenshots of the Greenby portal , posted Tue & Wed . I guess since they're that old and no-one has really missed seeing them , they can be left unapproved.

>> @jab1 Yes I noticed that too, www.greenby.com has a self-signed certificate. And when I did accept the risk, it didn't work anyway. greenby.com does appear to work tho.
I just looked (ok, so it's months later!), they seem to use a "let's encrypt" certificate correctly chained to a ISRG root cert.
"www.greenby.com" is forwarded to "greenby.com" (very normal), and whilst the CN field covers just "greenby.com", the SAN field covers both domains.
I wonder if they had an expired cert, so temporarily shoved in a self-signed cert to "make it work" while they sorted out the proper one?

Well, as of this afternoon/evening, things seem to be moving at the Greenby end - their ticketing system now no longer shows acres of white space and empty boxes, but now shows the details I logged, along with acres of verbiage and repetition from the AI bot. With some very tortured logic (anyone remember the Two Ronnies' Mastermind sketch, specialist subject - answering the question before the last one?). Nevertheless there's a human intervention on one of the tickets, which is encouraging, so I'll work at it with patience.
And will treat these as Greenby issues, not Plusnet ones. I'd half-expected Greenby to say something along the lines of "our systems are working as designed, we've just been fed garbage from the migration", as often happens. Glad that it's not the case here.
This forum has been immensely helpful over recent years, in particular a number of individuals who do a lot of heavy lifting, very much appreciated indeed. ISTR reading elsewhere a discussion on whether the email forum would be moved over to Greenby - is there any chance of this, or something similar happening?

THIS forum board will remain on this forum, what, if anything Greenby do about a customer facing contact option, only they will know, but I doubt there will be any, TBH.

The SUs have asked the question, but we are not in contact with Greenby … who have their own way of doing things,

@MisterW @Rickmia18 Seriously - no full subdomains with unlimited email addresses?? We've been told since the start that Greenby would fully replicate PlusNet, if there are not full subdomains then I may as well give up now as that's the whole point of PlusNet email. I have customised email addresses for dozens of people and organisations I contact and I want to keep them separate. Please check this out.

I was referring ONLY to the Metronet brand where (I believe but ICBW) the email address is <mailbox>@metronet.co.uk
As far as we understand it, the brands which have full subdomains e.g Plusnet <mailbox>@<account>.plus.com will continue to have the subdomain and unlimited email addresses.

Why?
@MisterW ’s post clearly and explicitly referenced the Metronet brand which has never used subdomains. Why the fear and suspicion? It comes across as scaremongering. Existing email addresses on the various brands will be migrated as is; if they did not, it would not be worth the effort.

Or they have been a 'victim' of a security breach. Or a disgruntled ex-employee has walked away with a database of e-mail addresses.
Opinion (based on circumstantial evidence).
Not all security breaches are reported.
