So this morning I have issues using my metronet email account.
Using the test settings option a "Cannot log onto incoming mail server (POP3)" error message is raised.
Is the the changeover to Greenby finally happeneing?

I have to say that for somebody who gets less technically able the older I get I am finding this whole process very confusing & not very well managed. I understand it is a huge undertaking but as customers we are very reliant on our emails, they are now very much part of our lives.
Maybe the plan didn't go to plan & it is/was not as easy as the red pen men in their ivory tower thought it would be, after all they only make the decisions that others have to implement with no concept of how it can/will be done.
I no longer use my F9 or my free-online email addresses & haven't for many years, so I am only concerned about my Plusnet address, I mentioned previously (months ago) my Broadband username is not connected to my email due to a porting issue a few years ago. I received a response that it was sorted, but not how or in what way, currently I have no idea when/if/how my emails will move over to Greenby & what facilities I will gain/lose by going over.
Sorry but as above I am finding the whole thing very confusing & do not know if I am going to suddenly lose service, ironically I'm sure I will be notified by email that I may not get if I do. I feel there should be a simple webpage of the timeline of what is intended to happen & at what point. Which is then brought up to date as each phase is completed or postponed.
It's not a very good customer experience currently.

@Phaeton Currently, AIUI anyway, the move is paused. As far as I can see, the email regarding what is (or isn't) happening goes to your email address, so your rather unique situation should have no effect on communication.

@jab1 I did receive this on 11th August, but it doesn't actually say anything other than what was advised before, it doesn't mention that the process is currently paused, maybe I'm not reading into it what it was supposed to convey.

@Phaeton I got that 'informative' email too. As is normal with PN, they don't tell customers what is happening, merely put out what they see as 'reassuring' messages. Don't worry about it until they issue some real information.
I based my 'paused' comment on a personal communication I received.

The Greenby chatbot says:-
The migration of Metronet email accounts to Greenby has not started yet. Migrations are not due to begin until September. You will receive advance notice—typically 60 and 30 days before your migration date—so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare. Until then, please continue to use your Metronet (Plusnet) email as usual and contact Plusnet for any support or issues.
The Greenby chatbot, in answer to the question ' Will I receive emails from Greenby 60 days and 30 days before migration starts?' says:-
Yes, you will receive notification emails from Greenby 60 days and 30 days before your migration starts. These emails are designed to keep you informed and help you prepare for the transition. You don't need to take any action unless you wish to opt out of the migration—if so, instructions will be included in the original Plusnet email.
I have only received migration related emails from Plusnet - none from Greenby. Therefore from the above replies we can take it that the migration will not start for at least another 60 days.

@Mount I don't think you should trust the AI chatbots!
AIUI and from the FAQ here https://www.plus.net/help/email-account-changes/ any comms from Greenby will not be until the transfer happens. All the pre-transfer comms comes from Plusnet.

Prompted by your response I have asked Greenby the following question:-
Leading up to the migration of Metronet email to Greenby there will be notification messages 60 days and 30 days before the actual migration date. Will these messages be from Plusnet or from Greenby?
And received the following answer:-
AI
Great question! The notification messages sent 60 days and 30 days before your Metronet (Plusnet) email migration to Greenby will come from Plusnet. Plusnet is responsible for informing you about the upcoming migration and providing any instructions or options, such as how to opt out if you do not wish to move to Greenby.
Once your migration is complete, you will then receive a confirmation email from Greenby letting you know that your account has been successfully migrated and providing details on how to access your new Greenby dashboard.

Which illustrates well the challenge of using AI; if you do not ask AI systems very precise questions (at the risk of inferring an answer) you are not likely to get precise accurate answers. They are rarely more than a flashy GIGO service.

HELP! - what's happening?
Halfway through this morning, tried to send an email, authentication failed, enter new password etc. Hey-ho, here we go again, let's see if Plusnet webmail's still working.
Yes it is - with a "Welcome to Greenby" message at the top of my inbox. Telling me that my migration's complete and all my messages, contacts etc are safely stored on Greenby.
I log into Greenby, with my metronet credentials - successfully, only to find zilch, nothing, niente. Everything still on PN/metronet, only not working via my usual Thunderbird route.
A couple of panicked backups taken,,,
Has the migration started, or not?
