Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Not been reading any of the posts as I was not getting any email notifications that there was replies, I thought it was strange that it had quietened down so quickly. Until that is I found all the notifications as having been marked as Spam by the Greenby servers & moved to the webmail Junk folder.

I suppose that's one way to stop people complaining about the service.

I don't think the Greenby servers are that clever.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@plusnettony

I had my "Welcome to Greenby" email yesterday, but when I "signed in" with my details, address etc. all I found was a blank screen.  Judging by the posts in this thread, there appear to be a few problems still to be resolved.  Would it be possible to continue using "webmail.plus.net" until the issues have been sorted out.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

My email setup uses Thunderbird with Mailwasher in front so that I can see incoming emails before they get on my pc. I notice that, in Mailwasher, POP3 is set as "mail.plus.net". Does that have to change? If so what to?

Thanks for any help

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I dont want to change anything if I can avoid it, but I have just discovered a load of emails in the Geenby Junk folder. They arrived there today. They hadn't shown up in Mailwasher. I had other emails that did show up in Mailwasher but weren't in the Greenby Junk folder. This suggests to me that there is something that is separating the emails. Is there a way I can get all incoming emails to go to Mailwasher, and none to the Greenby system? If so what is it?

I find using the Greenby email system a bit of a pain. I'm still trying to figure out a reliable way to log in to the Greenby email system. Sometimes it seems to work. Sometimes it doesn't. As a result I dont know what my correct username is, and because of that I dont know which password I need. One of these combinations works, but quite which one I haven't discovered

If I have been able to log in to Greenby, I have a choice of 3 accounts. One of them is my "surname@surname.plus.com", and for some reason it has an alias of "postmaster@surname.plus.com". I didn't know I had that "surname@surname.plus.com" with the postmaster variant when we were on Plusnet. On Greenby the 3 accounts have seperate sets of folders (Inbox, Outbox, Junk, Deleted). I haven't found a way to get from one account to another, short of logging out then logging back in.

Has anyone got an Idiots Guide To Using The Greenby Email System?

Thanks

Login to the Greenby portal, click Manage against the mail account, select Settings and adjust the Anti Spam slider to Less aggressive. See if that helps.

It sounds like you have 3 mailboxes, the same as you did previously and can access those exactly as you did beore , using either your mail client or webmail. In addition, when logged into the GReenby portal you can click 'View webmail' alongside each of the mailboxes to access webmail for the mailbox without logging out of the portal.

You can do better than that:

Login to the Greenby portal
Click Email in the left sidebar
Click the three dots menu on your Email Domain, then Settings
Set 'Anti Spam' to Off

With it Off, it says:
"The spam scanner is currently disabled, nothing will be sent into your spam box.
Enable it to start scanning incoming email for spam and sending spam to your inbox. Once enabled you can adjust the strength of the scanner as required."

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

It would also be very helpful if Greenby didn't mark emails from Plusnet Community as Spam & put them in the Spam folder

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@tactilis  & @MisterW   I have adjusted the numer shown in Anti-Spam from 3 to 5. Hopefully that will prevent most of these messages going to the Junk boxes on Greenby.

One of the three email addresses I have belongs to my wife. A long time ago I set up things that my wife's pc only received the emails sent to her address, while the emails for the other two email addresses come to my pc. I did make the 'mistake' of deleting all the rubbish that was in my two accounts Greenby junk boxes - it would probably have been better to click on Not Junk so that I could see if they then went to my Mailwasher account. As it is now I have to get my wife to check if what I listed as Not Junk on her account has got through to her Mailwasher account - they haven't shown up in her Greenby In Tray so will they show up in Mailwasher account automatically, or is that another thing I have to do?

I have never used Mailwasher but I would guess that it reads Inbox, so if the mails arent showing in Greenby webmail, then Mailwasher wont see them

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@MisterW

If emails put in the Junk Box by mistake cannot be moved to the In Tray, and Mailwasher can only read the In Tray, then those emails 'rescued' from the Junk Box are lost. Its a bit of a waste of time rescuing them. You might just as well delete them in the Junk Box

It does seem though that emails in the Greenby In Tray do show up in Mailwasher, and when I use Thunderbird to collect that email, it gets wiped from both Mailwasher and the Greenby In Tray. Hopefully, I will get to the point where I dont need to log in to Greenby looking for lost emails

Cheers. Take care

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Hopefully the last questions on this subject, if an email is put into my Greenby Junk Box, will it be automatically deleted after a certain time, or will it stay there until I delete it? If the former, any idea how long I would have to rescue it if I didn't want it junked?

Thanks

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Good morning @penneck.

I've had this one double checked, and from what I understand emails assigned as junk aren't automatically deleted, so anything flagged as such will need to be deleted or transferred back to your main inbox manually.
