Thanks Townman. Yes, I found lots of detail of IP addresses etc in the Properties area. Nothing that means anything to me, though. I guess it's best if I ignore the email and change my password.

In recent weeks I've received a number of messages that appear to be about my plus.net mail account from
Mail Delivery System (MAILER-DAEMON@mail.enmail.co) with title Successful Mail Delivery Report
The messages say
"Your message was successfully delivered to the destination(s) listed below ......" followed by a long routing description but no text.
The latest today (28 November) in the Subject field says E-mail Account Notification For ......plus.com !!!
Does this mean my mail has been moved or is this some form of testing?
PS I too have had much more spam to this account in recent weeks - dozens a day, many with viruses. No problems with my care4free account.

Some *.plus.com accounts have been notified of the intent to migrate, but none have yet been migrated.
This really sound suspicious. Do these messages relate to anything which you actually sent?
I can envisage the possibility that someone is using your email address as a sender and requesting delivery acknowledgement. That's a tad uncivilised ... if that is what is happening, this is not spam but rather an unusual form of backscatter.

@Townman Yes, I had noticed some accounts (not mine though, AFAIK) had had notifications to that effect.

No, but the subject fields all relate to my account - another was To Verify E-mail Account For .....plus.com

Anything unsolicited which invites you to act MUST be treated as being suspicious.

So this morning I noticed a large amount of spam emails received at my two Metronet email addresses overnight which I had previously marked as spam within the Greenby Portal. When I logged in there is now no spam filter option available in either of my Metronet addresses which is disappointing as I thought that it was doing a pretty good job of stopping spam.

@Rickmia18 I should be grateul if you would explain how you managed to mark spam on the Greenby portal. That facility has never been open to me on my two Metronet address dashboards. Greenby has said they are 'looking into' this but in the meantime the problem is spam which isn't spam. As previously mentioned here a significant proportion of my serious/important/legitimate emails turn up in the spam box and there is nothing I can do about it Greenby tells me.

I use a product called Mail-Washer from Fire-Trust it is very good at highlighting spam before you even download it and you can setup filers to highlight emails with certain words or phrases. They do free & paid versions, I bought a lifetime membership when it was on offer about 10 years ago.

Another vote for MailWasher, although they no longer do lifetime licences, they are now yearly.

Does Mailwasher have a reverse gear?. Can it restore to the inbox important emails that should never have ended up in the spambox in the first place?

Yes you can restore deleted emails, but I have found it a bit hit & miss at restoring emails, but that might just be me.

The thing with MW is that it sits 'in front' of your mail program - you ask it to download the emails (or a limited part of each) and it then lists them, with a rating based on you teaching it which emails you regard as valid/invalid.
It takes a while, but eventually you end up with the ability to delete unwanted ones from the server and only actually download the ones you want. Basically, it is a better filter than a mail server providers one.
I initially installed it many years ago as my then ISPs 'spam' filter was binning valid mail - i.e. not even sending them to me, or sending spam as 'valid' mail. I turned off their filter entirely, so I, not them, decided what mail I received, and when I moved to PN, did exactly the same.

I am also interested in this.
I was transferred to Greenby yesterday at 8am with no warning.
Wondered why no mails coming in on Thunderbird.
Is it possible to set up Thunderbird with Greenby - same as Plusnet? (that was complicated enough 3 years ago)
As for moving emails to spam - the Greenby webmail reader did that the first email I deleted - and I just wanted it deleted, not flagged as spam. Fortunately Greenby's webmail enabled spam to be retrieved and deleted as innocent.
Not thrilled about this disruption to my life so far. The yearning to keep my PlusNet account when they sack me from my copper landline is fast diminishing.
