Re: Plusnet data breach

Is it this message you saw:

SavedPasswordDataBreach.png

That isn't saying that Plusnet have had a data breach, but that the password you have used was found in a databreach.  That could be anywhere that password has been used, and is one reason why not reusing passwords on multiple sites is recommended.

Re: Plusnet data breach

It might help if you clarify which password(s) you do have, and which sort you think might have been phished.

(Don’t post any personal information or passwords, obvs)

* email mailbox: an email and password pair used by your mail client (of the form bloggs @ @mydomain.xyz

* Domain hosting account: a password and username/email pair where your mydomain.xyz is hosted including all the mailboxes which are part of that domain

* PlusNet account username+password which gives you access to your various PlusNet services and any historic web domains they hold for you, possibly including your own mydomainxyz)

These are (or should be) all different, and it’s likely that you have only lost control of one of them.

It sounds like the first sort (your email mailbox + password) has been phished, and would have given attackers access to send and read other password reset requests, like to your facebook and instagram. First step: change that mailbox password by contacting your hosting admin or logging in to the hosting control panel. Once that’s done, you would update your email app clients (computer, phone, etc).

If you don’t have access to your hosting admin person or hosting admin control pages, then things could be more complicated. So a bit of clarification about which bit you think has been hacked could be useful for people to offer you advice.

Re: Plusnet data breach

Iwant to change the email password on my hosted on plusnet

If its the primary mailbox then its the account password. For secondary mailboxes you can change the password from the 'Manage my mail' link when logged into the member centre
