Re: Keeping force9 email when ending plusnet subscription

I've got 2 options, one of them we've done before many times so while it's close it should be OK.

You guys are great! Is there anything I need to do to ensure a successful resolution?

Also, how will I know that my email account will be preserved? Thanks , Ollie

If were you, figure out how to make a local backup of your existing emails, just in case the worst happens.

You won't know until Dave attempts to move your account.

As far as I know, you will be the first time this has been tried, beyond Dave's internal work to automate account migrations.

If I were you, you should come back here on the 27th August when Dave returns from holiday, and tag him (with an '@') to remind him of the urgency of your imminent account closure.

You also have the option of Plan B. - i.e. go ahead with the AltNet FTTH installation on 1st September, but NOT close your Plusnet account until you are happy that your emails have migrated, and continue to pay Plusnet for the overlapping days until you eventually choose to cease your Plusnet account.

@Jollyolly

Just curious,  do you know which wholesale fibre-optic provider Fusion is using for your installation ?

A brief search shows that they have used -

  • CityFibre
  • Openreach
  • Freedom Fibre
  • PlatformX Communications (PXC)
  • MS3 Networks
  • FullFibre
  • F&W
  • ITS

What upload and download speeds have you signed up for ?

Re: Keeping force9 email when ending plusnet subscription

@Jollyolly I've sent you an email, it's the standard notification we're sending to everyone about the migration so read through the FAQs etc. when you have a few minutes and all being well the next email will be the confirmation you've been migrated on 27th August.

I think it may be Full Fibre but I thought that was a description rather than a company!!?? Download about 260mbps, upload about 60mps

Huh  I'm confused, you said -

"Fusion Fibre" is a company, who are an ISP, that subcontract "Full Fibre" installers to fit your fibre-optic cable.

Did you sign up from the "Fusion Fibre" website here ? - https://www.fusionfibregroup.co.uk/home-broadband

Re: Keeping force9 email when ending plusnet subscription

No, they blitzed the whole area and hassled me for ages. I eventually signed a 24 month contract with 12 months free overlapping with my plusnet contract.

Re: Keeping force9 email when ending plusnet subscription

@Jollyolly we're ready to go, I've just queued your email up to migrate over this afternoon. You might have a blip where you get an error message or you find you can't log in but it should only be a minute unless you have a massive amount of mail in your mailbox then it could take a couple of minutes. You should get an email when it's done.

Re: Keeping force9 email when ending plusnet subscription

@Jollyolly you should hopefully be successfully migrated and still working. You should also have received a welcome email from Greenby. Normally you would also have received a confirmation email from us to say it's migrated as well but I've got a minor snag on that being generated but will try and get that out but might be a day or two.

Re: Keeping force9 email when ending plusnet subscription

Hi Dave. Thanks for your efforts. Unfortunately I don’t think that the migration was successful. I have also had trouble reading my emails, though I can now access them on webmail after talking to Plusnet. How will I know when the migration has been successful and how will I then be able to access my email? Thanks again ,Ollie
