Help with webmail, please

I'm trying to use webmail for the first time.  Be patient, I'm 80, so please keep it simple.  When I log in to webmail it gives the current email address as my default one, but I want to use the two plusnet email addresses that are in current use.  The tutorial says in order to access another email address, one should enter one's login name followed by + and part of the desired email address. For example, login+david and password, it tells me login has failed and displays:  "We have temporarily disabled the sort function, there is no need to contact us."

Well, this is meaningless to me because I wasn't trying to sort anything.

Anything you can offer to help me will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.  David

Fix

@DaveLanks

You should be able to login using the full email address david@accountname.plus.com

For your accountname it would be accountname@accountname.plus.com

where accountname is login in your example

I missed out from my previous post, this message

should not prevent you from login into your email accounts

Re: Help with webmail, please

@DaveLanks

Hi there,

If you are logging in to your mailboxes make sure you are using this format:

For you primary mail box use: [your username] in the username box, and your account password.

For any secondary mailboxes use: username+mailboxname in the username box, and then the mailbox's password, this is created independently from the account password.

If you are seeing a login failed message, you will need to login to the plus.net website and change the password.

If you are trying to log into your primary mail box, changing the account password will work.

If you are trying to log into your secondary mail box you need to log in, then select account details, manage my mailboxes and change the password for that mail box specifically.

I hope I explained this well!

let me know if you need any further help.

Thanks,

Lex

Re: Help with webmail, please

Thanks Lex.

I entered accountname+me and used the password associated with the 'me' account.

A screen was displayed with 'Please complete your sender identity' and 'This box only appears once at first login'

It asked my name

It displayed an email address of Postmaster@accountname+me.plus.com

It asked for Organisation and Signature.

I tried assorted pieces of information but it always said it was an invalid email address.

Eventually, I just entered my desired email address:  me@accountname.plus.com   and it worked!

Many thanks for your help and that from Dan_the_Van and all others' help.

I also received a voicemail from <Redacted>.plus.com that contained a virus, detected by my antivirus, so the rats are active on the community.

Thanks.  Dave
