I think I have opted out of the migration to Greenby, or have I? I'm not sure.

@plusnettony  Could you confirm that I have opted out of the migration to Greenby.

I don't use my Plusnet email account so wanted to opt out of the migration at the earliest opportunity. I found a link (msg#165) in this thread. Greenby Opt Out Link and used this on the 15th August as I had not yet received any email notification of the migration. I received an email in my Plusnet account, not my usual contact address, saying

"You have now opted out..... We can confirm that your data will not be transferred to Greenby etc"

I thought that's that, job done, however on the 13th October I received my first ever email about "Changes to your email service"

This email had a link to opt out so that got me the "You have now opted out." response on screen but no email to confirm.

According to this email my mailbox would be closed on the 17th November but that has not happened. I am still receiving billing emails.

Since then I have not received any emails about the migration but having seen a forum post about missing emails showing up in service notices I looked at mine and and was found further basically identical "Changes to your email" messages.

One on 18th November not emailed to any address so I knew nothing about it.

A nonsense one on 2nd Dec sent on 0000-00-00 to a non existent Plusnet email address with all dates 0000-00-00!

A third very strange one on 8th December with Email send date 13th October, I don't know why have I received this, how is an email sent nearly two months ago relevant in any way, considering that the opt out link expired in November.

With the general confusion and delays to the migration to Greenby it would seem that the opt out process is also rather suspect.

Yes, happy to check, but I'm out of the office this afternoon so I'm slower with my PM's than usual.

Re: I think I have opted out of the migration to Greenby, or have I? I'm not sure.

@plusnettony I haven't been moved to Greenby and can still log into my Plusnet webmail.

I guess you have been busy with Christmas etc... but would like to know, when you get a moment, if my transfer to Greenby has been cancelled, if so when will my Plusnet webmail disappear?

Is there a way of requesting my Plusnet webmail to be closed as I have never used it.

I can arrange the instant closure of your email address if it's not used.

Please PM me your username (if you did this previously, please do it again to refresh my memory). I'll create a ticket for you to comment on to confirm. I'll then action it.

Re: I think I have opted out of the migration to Greenby, or have I? I'm not sure.

Why even bother?

Just change your email to some better, less flaky, company, delete everything from Plusnet using the webmail thingey. Job done! Should they, in their stupidity, then "migrate" an empty account to the Greenby thing, that's not your problem, it's theirs. Every little hinders 😉

BTW: years ago, I realized that if I had a "my-special-name@some-internet-provider-like-plusnet" account then I was tied to that internet provider forever, else loose all my previous. So I got my own domain. Six quid a year (+VAT). And I can redirect my email to wherever I want (like porting yer phone number).

So I've just moved all my email in a few clicks. One less (fewer?) reason to stay with Plusnet (a once-upon-a-time good company)...
