@mwwagain

Send as [email protected] using the SMTP server that accepts [email protected] as the Username.

The ability to send via relay.plus.net ( or any other Greenby SMTP ) for a domain hosted by another provider has been removed.

Error when sending from [email protected] via plus server (Not Greenby hosted)

and that's the change that's been made, relay.plus.net IS now Greenby hosted!

For clarity it is the domain I referred to that is not Greenby hosted, rather than any comment on where the plus.com mail server is hosted.

"I have found all the emails I sent to myself in spam, together with lots of random emails from other people over the past few weeks. This is super annoying although at least I know I can send emails now. How do I stop them all ending up in spam though?"

As explained by MisterW (post 14) adjust the Greenby Spam filter level in your Greenby account. Also, from  webmail you can click on messages in Spam folder and identify them as 'Not spam', which moves them to Inbox and aids the spam filter to discriminate in future. Also, vice versa for 'Spam'.

Re: Greenby migration now I can't send emails. Raging.

If you are using an email client or app and not seeing the messages in the email server's spam folder,
that suggest the email client / app is using POP3 which only reads from the server Inbox.

One option for POP3 is to disable the spam filter in the Greenby portal i.e. leave all messages in the Inbox.
Then in via Webmail move all the messages from the Spam folder back to the Inbox.

The other is to create an IMAP profile for your email a/c so you do get to see the contents of the server side spam folder in your email client / app.

I've done this, set it to 10 (least aggressive). It's still sending all my emails to spam.

What is in the mail headers ( aka source in Thunderbird ) that is classing your emails as spam ?

If you are not familiar with reading the email headers save a header as text file and upload it to Gemini AI
and ask :  Why was this email classed as spam ?

You replied to the wrong poster.

I have had no issue with Greenby spam filtering - since turning it off.

@mwwagain

Sorry! Reply should have been to  Ficon24. Could a mod possibly edit my post to correct this?

Re: Greenby migration now I can't send emails. Raging.

sorry, don't understand what you mean by mail header/source - could you explain?

also, in thunderbird on my desktop I don't actually have a spam folder for my plusnet email so I don't know where the spam emails go. I have a spam folder on my bluemail and that's where I've found the missing emails. Why isn't there one on thunderbird/how do I create one and make spam (real or otherwise) go there?

@Ficon24 Thunderbird (and other desktop clients) don't have a spam folder - you need to use the webmail client of your provider to view it.

@Ficon24

That reads like the Blue Mail is set as IMAP and the Thunderbird as POP3.

BlueMail

Open an email in the spam folder.

Top right of the screen, touch the 3 dots menu  >> Email Info >> you get a screen Email Headers

According to Google, when using Lithium you should observe the following -

Safety Precautions
• Lithium is reactive and requires caution.
• The reaction is exothermic and releases heat.
• Always handle lithium with tweezers or gloves, and wear safety goggles

I wondered why this forum often leaves me hot and bothered, I wasn't using tweezers or gloves !

I thought having a tinfoil hat would be enough protection !

Re: Greenby migration now I can't send emails. Raging.

@bmc

Thank you for this, this is working for me as I write.

Background: after a 12 day holiday without using email at all, the first email I tried to send today, using Thunderbird, produced a pop up with text as follows.

"Sending of the message failed.
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Unknown sender. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again".

What is puzzling (and irritating) me now is this. My plus.com email account was migrated to Greenby 7 months ago, and during that 7 months I've been happily using several different mailbox aliases to send and receive email. Why has the Greenby server only started to object now?

One of my email filters will identify anything  with Greenby in the from address, and file it. I can find nothing so filed that advises me of any policy change.

PS: Also struggling with this forum's reply protocols!

Re: Greenby migration now I can't send emails. Raging.

@Chris_P

Earlier this week Plusnet hosted relay.plus.net migrated to Greenby where is has a stricter sending policy.

Now the From: must be a Mailbox or an Alias that matches the SMTP credentials.
