Greenby migration - does it do normal email accounts *and "orphaned" ones* at the same time?

My mum has a Plusnet (now EE) connection and an email address associated with it. However she also has an email address associated with an older Plusnet connection. When Plusnet upgraded her from ADSL to VDSL/FTTC several years ago, for some reason they had to create a new user account rather than being able to continue the existing one.

So her older email account (which is the one she uses) is "orphaned" - no longer associated with an active PN/EE internet account.

As I understand it, Greenby give two years free access for active email addresses and may start charging much sooner for orphaned ones. Is that still the case for orphaned ail accounts?

Three questions:

- She has received an email from Greenby saying that her active email address has been migrated. Does that imply that the orphaned one has also been migrated, or is that a completely separate exercise with a separate notification from Greenby.

- How will Greenby set up payment for the addresses that need to be paid for (orphaned one fairly soon and active one in two years)?

- Does anyone know whether migration to Greenby cures the "too many recipients" error that gets cleared on the hour every hour (to use the old slogan from LBC Radio - "News, on the hour, every hour, from LBC"!) and the blacklisting of sent emails to hotmail addresses?

The hotmail problem is causing her a lot of problems: most emails to hotmail addresses get bounced back (I think the bounce response email comes from Hotmail). Have Greenby been able to establish good credentials with Hotmail so emails are not bounced. I've set her up with a gmail account that she can use for replying to emails from people with hotmail addresses, but she doesn't always remember to use it.

I think it's best you PM me the usernames in question so I can check it out for you.

Re: Greenby migration - does it do normal email accounts *and "orphaned" ones* at the same

I can't find a way to PM you: when I click on your name, there is a "Contact Me" but it does not have any link to send a PM.

The two usernames are underwd (associated with PN broadband but soon to migrate to EE) and underw (former PN user account that could not continue when the connection was upgraded from ADSL to VDSL some years ago).

It is an @underw.force9.co.uk address which must continue to work after migration Greenby. So far my mother has had a "you have been migrated" for the underwd user but not one for the underw user - if separate emails are sent.

The situation is complicated by the fact that my mother is due to transfer from PN to EE because PN are no longer in the market of supplying a landline service. The engineer visit is 21 September; I've no idea about the timing of any internal transfer processes. It is essential that the transfer from PN to EE does not result in her email-only account being terminated because Greenby have not picked up the ball before the PN->EE transfer takes place.

All this would have been so much easier if PN had not decided to withdraw from providing email, web hosting and landline services alongside broadband 😉

By the way, I am an authorised contact (Martin Underwood) on my mother's underwd account so you are authorised to discuss details with me. Do you happen to know whether authorised-contact details are passed to EE and Greenby or will they need to be set up again?

@martinund I have just gone to @plusnettony 's profile page, and there is definitely a 'Send Private Message' option. - see attachment.

I've got the two accounts, so no need to PM.

You don't have to worry about either account linked to. One has already been migrated and one isn't linked to your broadband, so will likely be done from the 6th September. That latter once, has no connection to your EE transfer.

Re: Greenby migration - does it do normal email accounts *and "orphaned" ones* at the same

I've just read your post. I am in a similar position although I hadn't realised that my legacy email was orphaned as i used plus.net addresses to log in from my email client. I also got given a new account name and was never told the significance of that, both account names being almost identical. My new Plusnet email which I never used was transferred to Greenby in January with the 2 years free..  I have received a email now to say my orphaned email will be migrated soon with a cost of £15 per year as I am now with EE. I have started the process of moving everyone to a nonISP email so I can dump Greenby a.s.a.p.
