Re: Greenby emails not working - Receive YES - Send NO

@Sam8 I changed mobile setting to TLS, which autmatically gave me the Port as 25.

The settings for Security and Port must match. Security of StartTLS (or just TLS) implies the email program will encrypt your emails before sending (which has been highly recommended for years), and the Port must be 587 so the Greenby (or Plusnet) server can decrypt them to make any sense of them. Port 25 is unlikely to be able to decrypt emails sent by SMTP, but it may work if Security is set to None. Another combination to try is Port 465 with Security SSL/TLS.

If none of those work, you will have to wait for Greenby (or possibly Plusnet) support, as @MisterW suggests.

I agree with @MisterW that your age is not the problem as I am probably older than you - but it may certainly be that your Windows or Outlook software is now so old that it may not be capable of modern-day encryption. What make and sort of age is your phone?

Re: Greenby emails not working - Receive YES - Send NO

Mobile is Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017)

Just by the by - I have a gmail account that sends and receives fine on the mobile.

I also have the same gmail account on my system - been there for years - tried it today, but can't send with the message: 0x800CCC0B - whatever that means.

I also tried to find the settings on the mobile for the gmail account but couldn't find it - although the settings for the Plusnet account are easily found on the mobile?

@Sam8 Mobile is Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017)

One of our phones in a Galaxy A3 (2017) so very similar, and using Samsung Email program v6.19.90:16

That works fine witrh SMTP Security TLS, Port 587, Requires Authorisation, with my main account name and password.

Re: Greenby emails not working - Receive YES - Send NO

@Sam8

To be clear for outgoing you are using relay.plus.net

PORT 587 = STARTTLS     <-- recommended setting

PORT 465 = SSL/TLS        <-- this is used ONLY when the email client does not support STARTTLS

For the default mail the username can be either your email address or account name so

accountname@accountname.plus.com or accountname

For a  secondary mail inbox email address on your account would be

mailboxname@accountname.plus.net or accountname+mailboxname

A password must be set for both inbound and outbound connections

Re: Greenby emails not working - Receive YES - Send NO

Thanks so much Mavison!

My main aim is use my client email on my PC, where I produce my football match programmes and half way through the season I have already been told that I have a potential award winning programme for the club.

I can't use Greenby webmail has it is DEAD with no features - like NO font sizes to chose from, and no font colouring, emboldening or underlining. This Community has got more of that than the Greenby Webmail.

I am sick as a dog with Plusnet for cancelling me, by shunting me to Greenby - who still haven't got back with any remedies. If anyone ever 'loved' Plusnet so much, it was me. Time to retire...?

I think you'll find if you switch to HTML when composing an email some of the features you are looking for are present

Just below the word Subject is this landscape icon.png, click on it to see what it reveals.
