Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Same here.  I can't connect from mail client (via POP) on my Mac, OR access directly through webmail (Greennby or plusnet)

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I'm on IMAP but both Webmail and Thunderbird are currently unable to connect.

There are multiple threads on these Greenby problems and it is getting hard to keep track of them.

At least we have this forum and can see that it is not an isolated problem.

I dread to think what things would/will be like if and when Greenby completely takes over.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

At the moment Greenby is totally DOWN - at my location at 4.45pm Wedneday 11th Febriary 2026.

So, How many seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years do we have to wait until Greenby is working - up to the previous Plusnet standard?

Also, right now Plusnet itself is also DOWN. So, is there a connection - when Plusnet fails; Greenby fails?

What is going on?

Plusnet should take us all back under their wing AND charge for the service if necessary. I for one would be happy to pay Plusnet for the email service - as, as it is now, one and half million ex Plusnet email users are left in limbo.with 'no continuous email  service'.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I agree but can't see Plusnet taking everyone back.

Greenby have well and truly screwed up everyones day. It has to be the worst service out there.

Shockingly bad

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

For a third time now the Greenby servers have stopped authenticating us. The first time I raised a ticket and they fixed it, the second time it started working after about 8 hours, now it has stoppd again and been out all day.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I've not received any emails today since 12:00 Hrs and have also been unable to access Greenby webmail. Encounter either timeout error or 'RC error. Login failed, please check your credentials.'

Compared to many our migration from Plusnet to Greenby went relatively smoothly. The spam filters keep out the majority of Chinese spam emails, that Plusnet filters were no longer keeping out, even at the most aggressive setting.

However, Greenby webmail is so flaky I'm seriously considering moving to a new email provider and the aggro of updating numerous online accounts. And convincing hubby to do the same.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I'm also considering moving elsewhere but it will take time as there are so many people and organisations to notify.

As to spam, I receive a flurry of replies to this thread yesterday; some went into my inbox some went into the Junk folder. Absolutely ridiculous.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I set up an account with runbox before Plusnet announced the Greenby deal. I see little improvement in my greenby set up this morning. I can give it another 24hrs max but do not hold out much hope

Looks like I have big task ahead notifying many organisations and people that I have changed my email address

Amusingly this email notiffication to me of this went into my spam folder Smiley

There is a spam filter with aggressiveness (and on/off) setting on the greenby website. I lowered the aggresssion level yesterday as faaaar too much non spam was going into the spam folder. I've just lowered it again ..

A tip you use an email client like thunderbird is to use imap not pop as then you can easily check your spam folder without webmail. I don';t know if dragging from spam folder to inbox trains the spam filter (you'd hope it would but .. ).

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Ha! It was only when I checked the Greenby spam folder, which I now do at least twice a day, that I spotted the Plusnet Community emails.

Until recently I haven't wished that my main email was not an ISP-email.

I'll keep a watching brief before I decide what I'll do

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Ive given up after so many years with plusnet, started with their Pipex service . This changeover is a shambles. Greenby customer service is a non event, what are they going to be like long term?

Im not waiting around to find out, a good reliable email operation is essential in todays world. Ive started migrating all of my email accounts to my Runbox service. It'll probably take a few days to complete.

See here https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Plusnet-email-moving-to-Greenby/m-p/2037789#M58256

You can adjust the detection sensitivity or turn it off completely.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Hi. Re the "where is the spam filter setting" they seem to have taken the novel (sadly not novel) approach of deciding "clickable" things don't look like clickable things and things should be in a non obvious state to work, but lets forgive them, apparently UI things obvious 20 years ago don't matter now to anyone as everyone is now more cleverer.

(Yes I did work in IT and yes I actually did UI courses and yes I did work on many UIs - some you may have used! :)).

Anyway. Right....

What you need to do is make sure the "email" tab is selected on the left of the Greenbay interface.

Then (for me) a "panel" appears with at the bottom "email domains" and for you that might be ..

-email domains-

yourusername.plus.com. <--- CLICK THIS

Click on THAT (the plus.com bit) and you get a new "magical" load of settings that weren't obvious, and you want 4th tab in.

There is I think ... on the right sight of the intermediate tab but it does nothing. As you expect. As the UI is [-Censored-]e.

It's totally not ****ing ing obvious, but there you go.

Rant: My career was in IT. I did courses in UI, that was a thing. I understand the whys and why nots of UI and kept them in mind. It wasn't my main thing but I worked on succesful things and did a lot of UI. Apparently now, being totally bloody useless with no idea how to design a UI is fine as long as it meets a vague "theme" and you can write 1 line of code. And everyone is -ed off, but that's progress. I'm not giving out [1] totally at PN here, something else drove me nuts today Smiley

[1] I worked in Ireland for a wee while, thought I'd use that expression once again, I like it, it's good :).

Don't give out at me!
