f you say so, but you did say, in post #426
'In the same period a number of previously common email practices have been deprecated and are no longer permitted' , which I, possibly wrongly (sorry) took to inferring that sub-domains were amongst them.

I thought it best to advise on a different scenario that I have experienced this evening....
I sent an e-mail with three recipients. One Gmail account, one btinternet account and the other is an icloud account. The icloud account bounced back with the following message:
Final-recipient: rfc822; xxxx.yyyy@icloud.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 554 5.7.1 [HM08] Message rejected due to local policy. Please visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204137
It therefore seems that Plusnet originated e-mails are not acceptable to icloud if they have multiple recipients which includes an icloud account. I successfully forwarded the e-mail to the icloud account on its own.

I will add it to the discussion.

Hey @ebforum
I have been chasing for an update on the Gmail issue, and I can see we had a success rate of 98% for delivery to Gmail, which is a great improvement; however, the MS issue is still on our radar and under investigation. I am sorry to hear that it is now affecting iCloud. From my initial thoughts, it appears that the MS and cloud issue could be linked together; however, as soon as we have more information, we will let you know.

So, it gets worse.
I predict a large exodus from PlusNet if this is not resolved soon. My customer has already left and joined EE as PlusNet no longer support landline telephones (Digital Voice).
Not much of a service these days.

The question is what is "It"?
If "it" is the idiocy of these big platform providers treating sub-domains of ANY email service as a single bulk marketing emailing entity, then we agree it gets worse.
Plusnet appears to have all of the requirements covered ... looking at the headlines of the disposition from iCloud - do you think it reasonable that you and I and others should have to put an unsubscribe from a non-existent mailing list in to every email?
I expect remedies to be found ... if only these bully boys might cooperate. The issues do have the highest possible visibility within the business.

@solodchin I disagree, Plusnet broadband is a perfectly good service and I am staggered by the number of users still using free ISP email services and website hosting from Plusnet and old legacy brands taken over by Plusnet and expecting them to carry on working for ever. Their market position in BT's eyes is a no frills Broadband provider and they are close to achieving that.
Plusnet have been very accommodating in arranging the migration to Greenby allowing existing email and web hosting accounts to continue. They could have just shut the whole lot down.
It is never a wise choice to rely on free ISP provided add on services.

@realalemadrid and @Townman
I never once suggested it was the right thing to do but I merely predicted that there would be an exodus when people who pay their fees find they cannot contact their addressees like before.
It matters not who's to blame. I've been in this game for far too long to not recognise human nature at its most fickle. People's patience will only last so long.
My 84 year old customer has moved to EE on the advice of PN's first line support. Not my advice but hey ho. C'est la vie

@RealAleMadrid, I started using Plusnet many years ago when e-mail services were specifically advertised as part of the broadband deal. I have been through several contract renewals with them as they have been an excellent broadband provider. At no stage have I been formally advised about e-mail services being withdrawn.
Therefore, having relied on the e-mail address for many aspect of my life, I will have a large task to migrate all of the places my e-mail address is stored, both for authentication and communication purposes.
Whilst it might be BT's strategy, the current lack of progress for an essential service is disgraceful. I also wonder if BT's strategists have a clear understanding of the inconvenience and are not just theorists without real-world views.

@ebforum Are you saying you are opting out of the email migration to Greenby? If you let the migration happen your Plusnet or whatever your email brand is will continue unchanged so I don't follow your argument.
The lack of progress with the current problems is as @Townman has explained in many posts purely down to the bully boy tactics of Google, Microsoft and Apple applying ridiculous conditions on received emails. It is a difficult task for Plusnet to get these giants to see the errors of their ways.

BT's senior management certainly have a clear understanding of the inconvenience and are very much aware of real-world views.

I didn't get any reply to my post #421 so can I ask again. Is it known whether any other provider is having the same problems with MS and now icloud or is Plusnet's address structure (i.e. containing a subdomain for ordinary users) unique?

@RealAleMadrid I was merely responding to this sentence in your earlier response below, with the phrase "expecting them to carry on working for ever":
"I disagree, Plusnet broadband is a perfectly good service and I am staggered by the number of users still using free ISP email services and website hosting from Plusnet and old legacy brands taken over by Plusnet and expecting them to carry on working for ever. Their market position in BT's eyes is a no frills Broadband provider and they are close to achieving that."
I have no intention of migrating away from Plusnet/Greenby e-mail.

This perfectly sound practice is probably more prolific that the real bulk sender domains @gmail.com / @outlook.com / @icloud.com which are un-associated free standing individual mailboxes, rather than an email service which allows the creation of associated mailboxes.
Ironically one of the largest purveyors of such is Microsoft themselves. See problems adding another onmicrosoft.com subdomain - Microsoft Q&A
