Re: Emails to my mobile

A far cry from my iOS 9 but a similar sounding problem profile!

Re: Emails to my mobile

Not that it really matters to me, as I don't use the iPad as my main client, but the account is still there - just won't pick up the emails as it used to. I can't say when this started, as I only check the mail on there when I am advised there is an entry in the iCloud account, and that is rare.

Also my mail is POP3 on the laptop, so rarely has anything on the server when I check the iPad.

Re: Emails to my mobile

Not sure if this is relevant but I was away from home and decided to put PN email on a Samsung phone. Eventually. I discovered a suggestion to change the server setting to Port 587 and everything seemed to work at that point.

If it works on one device in is most likely that another device needs corrected settings.

Re: Emails to my mobile

Yippee, but pure fluke. I have both my samsungs sending and collecting emails.

turn off then on phone clicked emails, put in my email address wrongly by mistake. I had put ******@madasacfish.com, then entered my password then auto setup, or what ever it says. It came back can not verify but then let me go back in to alter things manually. and chosing pop3 and not imap. Settings very quite different. username was ******@madasacfish.com, Before it was just ******. I corrected it to *****@madasafish.com. Incoming mail server had been mail.madasafish,com...now showing pop3.madasacfish.com....corrected to pop3.madasafish.com....security type showing SSL...I put it bck to none...port 110...left at 110 .... auto delete from server... never...outgoing server now smtp.madasacfish.com...corrected it to smtp.madasafish.com...security type SSL...corrected it to none...port showing 587 (I think)...corrected it to 25.require authentication on....******@madasacfish.com corrected to ******@madasafish.com and my password. and wow it bloody worked. I copied this on the second samsung and it also worked. Only discovered this as I misspelt madasafish.

Sorry this is so long but it might help some one. But can anyone explain why this has worked please?

Re: Emails to my mobile

@Torin60 I think - but can't confirm, yet - that this situation is linked to the issue which caused the email fiasco. I suspect that part of the system linked to account verification is still very broke. It is affecting too many people after the event not to linked.

Re: Emails to my mobile

My Android phone is still failing to login to my Globalnet account (Plusnet). No problems at all with the other email accounts (non Plusnet) using the same app.

Re: Emails to my mobile

Interesting, @Flabula , but as I have said (on this thread?) I suspect the foul-up caused more aggro than at first thought, and authentication to mobile devices is part of that. Pure speculation, I agree, but my 30+ years of IT (not specialised, but real-world), says I'm 50+% certain.

Re: Emails to my mobile

Question in respect of mobile connection issues - over WiFi or over 3/4/5G?

Re: Emails to my mobile

Good evening.

After making a small change, I appear to have email working on my Samsung mobile again.  Happy to share although don't wish to give anyone a false sense of hope.  Granted this info may have already been known and shared - plus could be due to some PN interim fix.

Since this morning, on Saturday 13th November, I've been unable to send/receive emails on my phone but Outlook has been absolutely fine.  This evening I did a little digging whilst cooking the kids their supper.  And I spied changes in Outlook's server settings which I know are different to what I used when I set it up.  But at what point these changes have occurred I do not know.

Incoming mail is now imap.plus.net (previously it was mail.freenetname.co.uk)

Outgoing is now smtp.plus.net (previously smtpmail.freenetname.co.uk)

Receiving test emails that I've sent to myself seems rather slow still (on both phone and PC Outlook) but I got a wad of new emails from all other sources once I made the phone changes - which mimicked my Outlook.

Just wanted to share.  Gotta keep the fingers crossed!

Jonty.

Re: Emails to my mobile

Interesting, @jontysoper , but unfortunately my settings are, and always have been, the plus.net ones.
