Email not being received

Hi

I have an old Freenetname domain and email. I received an email related to Greenby (02/09) giving a start date for migration of 03/10 but no follow up from Greenby regarding migration status or options to pay for continued service.

Yesterday, my email stopped coming through. I’ve tried webmail but now I get an error message:

ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: LOGOUT

I assume that this all relates to the migration from Plusnet. Any ideas as to what’s going on pls?

Re: Email not being received

Hi,

I have the same problem, I have an old freenetname email thats from the early 2000's and then it was madasafish handling it, then plusnet. I've not had an communication durectly from Greenby as yet, only the email about the migration and upcoming charges from Plusnet. Yesterday my email stopped as well working and I get the same message as yourself if I try and just log in to the basic email webmail.

I wonder if they are migrating these mails at the moment and that is why we have lost service?

Re: Email not being received

Thanks - good to know it’s not an isolated issue. It is however v inconvenient. I’d be keen to know when there will be an update on potential resolution.

No we are not alone if you go to back to the Email part of the forum there is now quite a long thread on this issue, it looks to be a migration problem and it has affected a lot of people. It is an utter pain I've wasted the last two hours on trying to figure it out.

Re: Email not being received

Same, Plusnet webmail login doesn't work since yesterday and service seems discontinued.

No message from either Plusnet or Greenby but on a first look I can see webmail via greenby.com website now using my old FNN credentials. But I cannot pick up email on my iphone or using PopTray even though greenby help page https://greenby.com/support/knowledgebase/article/29 says the outgoing and incoming settings are the same as before.

Has anyone discovered a fix for this?

Re: Email not being received

Thanks - just tried the Greenby link you posted. I get ‘Login Failed’, so presumably still in no-mans land, mid migration.

If I try my email normally I now get an account error (‘mail server”mail.freenetname.co.uk” is not responding).

Re: Email not being received

Hi.

I'm a legacy FNN user and received an email from PN about my migration at the start of September.  My migration was due to start as of 4th October.  I was transferred yesterday, 21st October.

But I'd received no further update from PN or Greenby.  I only became aware of something happening given emails on my phone stopped working.  When I got home, I visited the Greenby website, was able to log-in, finalised my details and took a look around.  I've since gutted and setup my Outlook again - and tweaked the settings on my phone.

It's only my primary email that has been migrated.  Secondary mailboxes are still active using the old PN settings.

Jonty.

Re: Email not being received

Hi @jontysoper

I have never heard from Plusnet again since the email early Sep about the switch over and nothing from Greenby.

Did you log in straight into the Greenby webmail? I have tried with my *******@freenetname.co.uk password but absolutely no joy. I tried the link others appear to have on a separate conversation on here where Greenby send a code but I cannot access the code as I cannot access my email, a catch 22 situation.

Re: Email not being received

Hi.

When I spied my email had dropped out at work, I tried to log-in using the Greenby.com website, but it wouldn't work. I recall seeing a link that would send a code to my mobile, but nothing appeared.

It was only when I got home that I tried again - and could log-in. Log-in is the same [email protected] address and password. I just made sure the Provider drop-down was Madasafish and not Plusnet.

I had read somewhere that things might not work for c. 24 hours once the migration starts, so I was expecting a delay before things would be good.

You 'might' have to sit things out a while longer?

Jonty.

Re: Email not being received

@jontysoper

I have finally been able to log in via yet another log in page I found on Greenby. I can access my emails but from around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon they are all missing, including any sent items, maybe they are still in the migration process. At least I have got in. I have not even attempted to set this up on my laptop yet (I use Apple Mail) I will wait until i see new ones appear as the ones on there now are still in my inbox on screen so until I can see new ones I will wait, I need to step back from this a little while as it is driving me mad and wasting a lot of time.

Re: Email not being received

Outgoing mails appear to be sent from Greenby, in that there is a green success box at the bottom when I press send, but 1 hr later nothing seems to have actually arrived.

They seem to be using RoundCube again but I can't find any way to put underlines, bold, formatting or special characters in outgoing mail - however in the present situation that would be something of a luxury.

Biggest worry is that the Sent folder is there but none of my other folders seem to exist any more.

@sharpener

I too have the same issue in Greenby webmail. Any inbox items are missing from around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon. All sent items are missing. I can send emails and the green sent box appears but nothing ever arrives. I have enabled all the folders in the settings. I can only just give it time to see if this problem is resolved in webmail and everything is working before i bother setting this up in webmail as at the moment the Apple Mail does not work properly, can only guess we are still in mid-migration.

Re: Email not being received

Folders are there.

Go to the 3 dots by yr name in top left of webmail home page.

Click and select Manage Folders from the dropdown menu.

Now you can select folders from the list to "subscribe", then they appear in the webmail home page.

Also in Settings you can select the default Roundcube skin which is more familiar and easier to drive for longstanding users.

"They seem to be using RoundCube again but I can't find any way to put underlines, bold, formatting or special characters in outgoing mail - however in the present situation that would be something of a luxury."

Just click on the icon (not sure what it is!) in the top left of the mail composition window to switch to the HTML editor.

"Biggest worry is that the Sent folder is there but none of my other folders seem to exist any more."

I see that is now solved. It initially alarmed me when I was switched to Greenby, but I discovered the solution myself.

"Also in Settings you can select the default Roundcube skin which is more familiar and easier to drive for longstanding users."

I stick with the newer, default one (I seem to remember there is a choice of three) as it works very nicely on a phone.

Re: Email not being received

Also the editor it is set to Plain Text always by default.

Settings|Preferences|Composing Messages gives you several other options. Provided html is enabled you will get the simple edit options at the top of the compose window and there is a dropdown under the three dots which will give you the less frequent formatting and special characters.

Anyone found where their Contacts have gone?
