Has anyone else found that their email client, accessing mail.plus.net is timing out when trying to read mail from the server, and that webmail to mail.plus.net with the same credentials is also failing. Thunderbird eventually prompts for email address and password to be re-entered, though the failure mode may differ from one mail client to another.

@martinund I have noticed this a couple of times this evening, but it only seems to affect one random mailbox at a time - very similar - but not quite the same behaviour I experience every morning when my mail client starts up.

Is this the Greenby email service? Because I am finding it absolutely diabolical! We have been migrated for about a month now, and it keeps failing to connect us and asking for passwords to be re-typed - at least once a day. I can get to their website, but it is very clunky and the help is unintelligible. Periodically, my wife and I get locked out of our respective mail boxes on the webmail page. And it is very very slow - we have Gigabit speed internet, but you can wait an eternity for the webmail page to refresh! I tried changing the password on my mailbox (no proper instruction about what password I was changing?), and now email has stopped working on all my device email clients - despite saving the new password and putting in to the correct field. I will definitely NOT be continuing with Greenby when they started charging after 2 years! I am trying to migrate everything to iCloud mail - a lot more reliable!!

The Plusnet IMAP/POP3 servers mail.plus.net and imap.plus.net are hosted by Greenby.
But the outbound SMTP server relay.plus.net is still hosted by Plusnet.
I am very nervous about changing the email passwords at the moment because this can be attempted either via the Greenby portal AND / OR via the Plusnet Members Centre and I suspect it is now possible to cause the IMAP/POP3 password to differ from the SMTP password.
I'd be very pleased to hear otherwise if my concern is unfounded.

A couple of days ago, Thunderbird couldn't download emails. I went direct to Greenby's Dashboard only to find I had no email account, no nothing and obviously no link to Webmail. I was composing a Ticket with the Dashboard open when it suddenly reappeared with the View Webmail link which worked - and Thunderbird downloaded the emails. So, there it was, there it wasn't and there it was again.
Yesterday, Thunderbird couldn't even see PlusNet/Greenby - there was nothing, all gone. Five minutes later it was back.
This morning, Thunderbird got the old "wrong password" nonsense. And then it started working again.
Chaps, it's not Thunderbird, it's not you, it's Greenby. Their system is randomly erratic, shimmering in and out of existence like a mischevious goblin - "here I am", "no I'm not", "fooled you, here I am again". I've never known the like. I wonder if they, wittingly or unwittingly, take their system offline every day for a while in order to inject another gob of migration. My message to self is that it's not my fault, don't to anything, it'll right itself soon.
