Can't send email - blacklisted by local policy

Hi, I have a Freenetname domain but one of the email addresses refuses to send, it gives the error "blacklisted by local policy". The other email address works just fine, but I need the blockedone as this is my wife's.

 

I understand other people have had this problem but I have just joined the forum and I think those threads are closed. Apologies for yet another one of these threads but please can I get some help? Thanks.

 

Edit: now I seem also to be getting a 452 error - too many recipients in the last hour - from the "good" email address. I've literally sent two test messages, not seen this before.

@JohnnyRod  Have a look in the email forum board, what you have experienced is a common occurrence, nobody appears to be fixing it.

It's a major problem that is annoying lots of Plusnet customers. Suspiciously, it seems to have started at some point in 2025 and probably round about the time the email service was being dumped by Plusnet, sorry migrated, on to Greenby!

For the last 5 months or so group emails to iCloud and Microsoft addresses have been "rejected due to local policy". This usually means that both believe the sending IP has a poor reputation, the server appears on a spam blocklist or the reverse DNS is missing or incorrect.
Individual emails seem to go through to iCloud but not to msn.com in my experience.

The two addresses I am using are both on the same domain, via Plusnet webmail, one works and the other is blacklisted and now giving this 452 error. Who do I need to tag for this? I see other users have had their problems fixed in other threads.

If you can PM me your username and your from email address I can look at this for you.

 

There are two kinds of 550 error messages. I tend to be able to resolve the 550 local policy ones quite quickly. The 550 where it says to contact your provider, often need a bit more information (these tend to be the ones that Microsoft bounce).

Thanks to Tony fro sorting the blacklist problem. I am still getting the 452 "too many emails sent" error and they are also getting bounced back from Outlook and Gmail as there isn't sufficient kudos on the outgoing email addresses, which he tells me are being worked on. It's still almost unusable at the moment though except for receiving emails.

This should be an intermittant issue @JohnnyRod. Would you be able to keep trying and see if you have any further luck?

Hi Rach, the 452, it's the same as other people have said. I tried a number of times from 20 to the hour, but nothing would send until just after the hour. Tony says this is being worked on but I saw it just the other day. Sorry am trying to make sure I am not having the same conversation with two of you and causing confusion.

We tried to raise a problem on it and since then I'm seeing fewer issues, but I've no doubt it's still happing
