Blacklisted by server

For some reason I have been blacklisted on the BT server and so cannot send emails. I don't think this is related to Greenby. Plusnet took 7 days over Christmas to fix it but said they did so last night. However I am still blacklisted and they now want another 7 days to try again. No email for nearly two weeks is pretty unacceptable I think. I wonder if it happens a lot.

Apart from moaning, does anyone know why it might have happened and what I can do to stop it happening again - assuming they fix it this time.

Thanks

David

Re: Blacklisted by server

Regarding the BT Server Email Blacklist:

Have you sent spam emails, or has someone previously utilized your IP address allocation, leading to your inability to send emails?

Re: Blacklisted by server

My emails typically go to family or businesses. I looked back and the longest distribution list recently is 5 people. I only send about 5 a day. I can see nothing odd in the last few months.

Re: Blacklisted by server

This generally happens when your account maybe being used for spam.

As a precaution, please do a full virus / malware scan and change the relevant mailbox password. Please let me know once done and I can sort for you.

Re: Blacklisted by server

Thanks for that Tony. I think I only have a Plusnet password which is the same as the Greenby one and applies to the four mailboxes for the family. The other three are working so I am reluctant to mess with them. I have been without email for more than two weeks now and I don't want them to end up in the same position. Why it takes a week each time they try and clear the block I can;t imagine. The call remains open.

I have done a full virus scan and it runs all the time in the background anyway.

Any help much appreciated - I have bene with Plusnet since they started and this is the longest I have been without service.

I've sorted this for you now. It should take no more than a few days to sort this out once we know what the issue is.

Fix

Well I don't know if it was your intervention or the ticket I raised but my email send is working today. What a relief, it is surprisingly limiting trying to use webmail.

So if it was you, and even if it wasn't Tony - many thanks.
