go down/go up buttons

this is simple machines, it can be done.  could we have these buttons please?  it's a bore having to use the slide bar, especially on long threads.

Re: go down/go up buttons

if your simple machine is not a mac, the home button goes to the top, the end button goes to ( guess what)

Re: go down/go up buttons

my simple machine is a PC running Vista 64 bit and those buttons have no effect in Firefox but do work in IE7

Found it - Tip 3 http://www.watchingthenet.com/5-quick-firefox-tips-that-do-not-require-extensions-or-add-ons.html Odd thing is I hadn't enabled the things suggested but F7 fixed it anyway

Re: go down/go up buttons

Top result from a search for "home end keys" firefox vista - note the quotation marks

Re: go down/go up buttons

I still think it'd be useful having the 'home' button at the foot of the page.
I use a programmed button on my mouse to acheive the same thing, but I'd prefer to use the button for other stuff....

Re: go down/go up buttons

would these buttons appear if i used a different forum layout?
well, that's a bust.  there are no options to change the theme used.

Re: go down/go up buttons

Not yet - there is talk of adding different themes later on, but no firm timescales as yet I'm afraid.

Re: go down/go up buttons

Of course, the home/end keys (and the cursor up/down keys) only work as desired if the page has focus. If you give the focus to an individual Reply by mistake, none of these keys work. (I use IE7 on XP.) What is the point of allowing individual posts take the focus off the page as a whole?

I agree: I'd like a "top of page" link at the bottom of every page on the site please.
Plus, I vaguely remember reading that doing such things is good for accessibility (ie W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative).
